VOA: CCP Accused of Being Involved in Attacks against Falun Gong in New York

June 30, 2008

(Clearwisdom.net) On June 28, Voice of America (VOA) reported that a seminar was recently held in the US Congress where several participants accused the Chinese Communist Regime of being involved in the attacks against Falun Gong practitioners in Flushing. The US government was urged to investigate.

Wei Jingsheng: Chinese Embassy is Behind these Attacks

At the seminar, overseas Chinese Democratic movement activist Wei Jingshen said that the Chinese Communist Regime was directly linked to the attacks in Flushing, New York.

Wei stated, "We now have concrete evidence which shows that the Chinese Embassy is behind these attacks. The Embassy is manipulating Chinese immigrants to attack legal US residents and thus it has interfered with US interior affairs."

Since May 17, a number of clashes between some Chinese immigrants and Falun Gong practitioners have occurred in Flushing, a community with a large Chinese population. These immigrants shouted verbal abuse at Falun Gong practitioners who were urging Chinese people to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). New York City Police have arrested 12 people on charges of attacking Falun Gong practitioners.

Seminar Participants Urge US Government to Help Stop the Violence and Start an Investigation

Zhang Hailian, a columnist for the Epoch Times, said that the Chinese Communist government spread its political propaganda to US soil and tried to control Chinese immigrants. He said that such conduct had jeopardized US homeland security.

Michael Ledeen, a scholar from the Enterprise Institute, said that the Chinese Communist government has continued to intimidate Chinese and American scholars who publish articles against the Communist party and it is now instigating attacks in the US to protect its own interests.

Ledeen said that the US Government must take action to stop the CCP. He questioned why the FBI and New York City Police have not taken full measures to stop these hoodlums, as most of the victims of the attacks were US citizens or permanent legal residents.

Seminar participants unanimously appealed to the US government to launch a thorough investigation of these attacks and to investigate Chinese agents in the US.
