July 7

Based on the unsubstantiated charge of "interfering with the execution of the law by means of an illegal organization", CCP authorities in Shenzhou City, Hebei Province sentenced Ms. Wang Qinghui and Li Xiaolan to four years, Lu Shunli and Zhang Rong to three years, and Ms. Zhang Zhimei to three-and-a-half years.

July 8

Ms. Liang Wende was detained three times and imprisoned twice for appealing for Falun Gong. On October 3, 2007, Ms. Liang was arrested again. On May 8, 2008, Longmatan District Court in Luzhou City, Sichuan Province sentenced Ms. Liang to four and a half years in prison.

On the evening of June 20, 2008, the local Chinese Communist Party (CCP) authorities in Hefei City, Anhui Province dispatched a large number of police officers to illegally arrest nearly ten Falun Gong practitioners.

July 9

This article summarizes evidence that instead of following its pledge to improve respect for human rights prior to the Beijing Olympics, the government persecution of Falun Gong practitioners is actually increasing.

July 11

Ms. Chen Yumei is beaten publicly by the police and dies hours later in a hospital.

Mr Wu Yueqing was arrested in 2000 and imprisoned for many years, leaving his son in the care of his sister. Soon after his release from prison in critical condition his sister was arrested, leaving no one to care for him or his son.

A lawyer calls for the release of his wife, a medical professional, on Constitutional grounds.

July 12

Mr. Wu does not survive his third imprisonment after being force-fed.

July 13

The Police in Dingxing County, Hebei Province conducted another round of large scale arrest of Falun Gong practitioner. The local Chinese Communist Party authorities claimed they would not release any of them before the end of the Olympics in Beijing.

The police broke into Ms. Su Jing'ai's home, but failed to find her, so they confiscated her properties and abducted her daughter as hostage.
