(Clearwisdom.net) On Thursday July 17, 2008, in Bratislava, the first in a series of international "Million Signatures" rallies in Slovakia took place to collect petition signatures. The goal of the global anti-persecution petition is to demand that the Chinese Communist regime immediately stops its persecution of Falun Gong, unconditionally release all Falun Gong practitioners in detention and end the suppression of righteous individuals who support Falun Gong, including human rights lawyer Gao Zhisheng.
People immediately showed their support. One older lady said after signing of the petition, "I support what you are doing. My father was persecuted during the communist rule in Slovakia."

The media were also interested in the petition. Journalists from both main press agencies in Slovakia conducted interviews with the event organizers. One practitioner explained the benefits she has realized from practicing Falun Gong.
A local TV station cameraman came to shoot footage of the event, which was broadcast on the evening news, and a lady from another television crew made a video report to be published as a bulletin on their Internet news website.
