(Clearwisdom.net) Shuangshuang, an eight-year-old girl from Weifang City, Shandong Province, has experienced the emotional trauma of being separated from her immediate family on two separate occasions.

Shuangshuang was only three in August 2005 when her father, a Falun Gong practitioner, was arrested in another city. He was held at the Weifang City 610 Office Brainwashing Center. Shuangshuang's mother fled to avoid arrest, leaving her daughter in the care of her paternal grandmother. Shuangshuang, who had always slept with her mother, had suddenly lost both of her parents.

A few days later, the grandmother took some basic necessities to Shuangshuang's father while he was in custody. The 610 Office personnel held her at the brainwashing center as well. Only Shuangshuang's maternal grandfather was left to take care of her. This was the first time that Shuangshuang was separated from her immediate family. She was very sad and could not understand why her her parents and grandma did not return home.

Five years later, another traumatic event occurred. On the morning of July 9, 2008, which was close to Shuangshuang's eighth birthday, she was awakened by a frightening noise. Both she and her mother were taken into custody and held at a detention center. That same day, her mother's parents were also arrested.

Shuangshuang was later picked up by distant relatives. But after her mother and her mother's parents were arrested, there was suddenly no one to take care of her. Eight days after the arrests, her paternal grandmother learned the news and traveled a great distance to take Shuangshuang into her care. This was the second time that she was separated from her immediate family.

Shuangshuang's mother and her mother's parents are Falun Gong practitioners. Her mother's name is Chen Bingnan, and she used to work as an accountant at the Weifang City Construction Bank. Her colleagues always praised her for being honest, kind, and hard-working. She used to keep to herself, but after she began practicing Falun Gong, she became more outgoing and thoughtful. She tried to always act unselfishly, according to the requirement of a practitioner. People around her noticed the change and always praised her when she was not present.

Shuangshuang's maternal grandmother, Ms. Yu Guifang, was a director of the Weifang City Judiciary Department. She was in charge of the department before she retired. After she began practicing Falun Gong, she endured many hardships as she learned to let go of the human attachment of competitiveness. After a few years, people who knew her could sense the dramatic change in her words and actions. Because she practiced Falun Dafa, she had become very peaceful.

Shuangshuang's maternal grandfather, Mr. Chen Maolin, is in his 70s. He worked at the Weifang City Industrial and Commercial Bureau until his retirement. Before he began practicing Falun Gong, he suffered from many illnesses, including heart disease and high blood pressure. He used to be admitted to the hospital twice a year for treatment, and each time, he looked as if he were at death's door. But Falun Gong gave him a healthy body. From then on, the whole family was free of financial, material, and emotional stress. His son and daughter benefited as well. His employer even saved money on medical expenses.

Shuangshuang's mother and grandmother remain in custody at the Weifang City Detention Center. Her grandfather's illnesses have recurred as a result of persecution. He is currently undergoing treatment at the Weifang City Second Hospital. Shuangshuang continues to suffer emotional distress.
