Thoughts from the Family Member of a Practitioner

Sept. 20, 2008

(Clearwisdom.net) Several members of my family practice Falun Dafa, but I do not. Two months ago, my parents, Mr. He Yixing and Ms. Zhang Yueqin, both practitioners in Tangshan City, Hebei Province, were arrested. The police entered our house by breaking the windows and knocking down the door. They took my parents to a detention center. Because nobody else was home at the time, the police from Lubei Police Department and Diaoyutai Police Station stole everything of value. They stole over six hundred thousand yuan in cash, other valuables and our car that's used for business. My younger sister Ms. He Yan and brother-in-law Mr. Sun Fengli were arrested at work by police from the Diaoyutai and Fujiatun Police Stations and taken to the No.1 Detention Center.

My parents and sister began practicing Falun Gong in 1996. Their physical and mental conditions have improved greatly since starting the practice. My mother used to have problems with many parts of her body and would take medicine daily. Her health was restored after practicing Falun Gong. My father's work requires him to be in charge of a department. After practicing Falun Gong, he refused to accept any gifts from people in the department or anyone. When he was given the gifts he would try to return them immediately. The department received the honor of being "advanced" for ten straight years with my father in charge. My parents would always put others before themselves and would often perform good deeds.

When the CCP started persecuting Falun Gong in 1999, our family became separated. Three people lived in three different places. I was the only one at home at the time. I was afraid for my parents' safety, but I was also angry with them for being so stubborn. I felt that there was no justice in the world, so I did many things that hurt my parents. Afterwards, my mother said something that really touched me, "I just want to be a good and compassionate person. I have not hurt anybody. You are my daughter. How can you act this way?"

In the nine years of persecution, many things have happened. Sometimes I am confused, and sometimes my thoughts go to extremes. I keep questioning whether there are principles in this world and what exactly are my mother and other practitioners insisting on. I discovered that people who lie will always be afraid of the ones that they are lying to. You can't see the principles, but they do exist, or else why would there be this feeling of fear and fright? Looking at it from this angle, I have to ask if karmic retribution for good and evil really do exist.

I have continued to be in touch with various people who have persecuted practitioners. They routinely say the same thing: We take orders from above and give out orders below. I think that you have no choice over your occupation and status, but you do have control over your actions. You can choose to violate the law and help criminals, or you can choose to uphold the law and treat good people well. Actually, when you choose justice, not only are you upholding the law and protecting the victim, you are also choosing a good future for yourself and your family. That is because karmic retribution for good and evil does exist.
