Retired Teacher Ms. Luo Yingjie Dies after Long Term Persecution in Chengdu City

Ms. Luo Yingjie, 77, was a retired teacher employed by the Qingyang District Education Bureau, and lived in the teachers' complex located in Jiuliti Community, Jinniu District, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. She began cultivation in 1997. She suffered from many diseases before, but they all miraculously healed after she started practicing. Because she firmly held on to her faith, she had been detained many times during the persecution.

On September 29, 2002, officers from Yingkoumen Police Station arrested Ms. Luo at her home and detained her in the Chengdu City Detention Center for more than 30 days. On June 3, 2003, she was arrested again and detained in the Twenty-Fourth Cell, Eleventh Ward in the Chengdu City Detention Center for ten months. She was secretly sentenced to four years in prison in April 2004; she was 72 years old. She served the term in the Yangmahe Women's Prison located in Jianyang City.

She was released in June 2007. The retirement office under the Qingyang District Education Bureau reduced her monthly retirement payment from more than 1000 yuan to only 400 yuan. They forced her to write a Guarantee Statement many times. Ms. Luo deeply understood that Falun Dafa is good and firmly continued to cultivate Falun Dafa. But the long term mental torture ruined her health. She clarified the truth to her roommate, even right before she died on January 9, 2009.

Ms. Zhang Yuhua Dies under Persecution in Jilin Province

Ms. Zhang Yuhua, 58, lived in Liuhe County, Jilin Province. On May 4, 2003, she went to the countryside to pass out truth-clarifying materials, and she was arrested and taken to the Taipingchuan Township Police Station. The officers took her to the Liuhe County Detention Center and had her sentenced to three years of forced labor after she was detained there for more than four months.

Ms. Zhang entered Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in August 2003. She had a stroke and developed cortical cerebellar atrophy due to being brutally mistreated. Her family picked her up, but the local police still required her to write a monthly report to the labor camp. She died on January 5, 2009.
