On the afternoon of September 4, Yang Yong, deputy head of the Jiangyou State Security Division, brought a group of people to Mr. Zhang Qizhong's rental unit. They forced their way in and arrested Mr. Zhang and his wife, Ms. Zhou Wenyu. The police confiscated a desktop computer, a printer, DVDs, and other valuables.

Mr. Zhang Qizhong, 60, is a retired employee of the Changgang Factory No. 4 in Jiangyou City. Since the persecution of Falun Gong started in July 1999, he has been arrested on numerous occasions. He was sentenced to forced labor twice. Officials from his former place of employment have withheld his retirement pension for years.

For three years, Mr. Zhang and his wife have been forced to leave their home to avoid persecution. His wife has also been detained and arrested numerous times.

Mr. Wei Chaohai, 59, was arrested by the Jiangyou state security police when he was on his way home after visiting Mr. Zhang Qizhong on September 4. He is being held at a detention center.

In 2001, Mr. Wei was arrested while he was working odd jobs in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. The state security police and members of the 610 Office sentenced him to 18 months of forced labor.

Mr. Wei's son, Mr. Wei Bin, 32, is also a Falun Dafa practitioner. On May 15, 2002, he was arrested by state security police and members of the 610 Office while working odd jobs in Hubei Province. He has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. He is being held at the Deyang Prison in Sichuan Province.

Mr. Wei Chaohai's salary card was shredded by the state security police. He has not been able to collect his salary. His wife does not have a job. She and her other son have no source of income. The Jiangyou City police detained her for several hours and interrogated her about her contacts. She is constantly being harassed and threatened by government officials.

Mr. Du Zhijun, formerly the president of the Jiangyou Psychiatric Clinic, is 60 years old. On September 4, a group of police officers broke into his home. The officers confiscated a notebook computer and a DVD burner. Mr. Du had been held in a detention center two months in the past for telling others about the persecution.

In mid-September, Mr. Du's wife Ms. Wu Qihui chatted with another practitioner, Ms. Wang Mingying, briefly on the street. The following day the two practitioners were both taken by the state security officers to a detention center. Ms. Wu, 52, was sentenced to forced labor twice. Both times, she was held at the Nanmusi Women's Forced Labor Camp and was forced to serve terms of 18 months and 20 months.

On September 7, Aunt Wu was arrested while telling others about the persecution on the street.
