(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 6 cities or counties in 3 provinces. In this report, 9 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 3 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Beijing] Mr. Li Yuxuan Taken into Custody at Work

On January 13, 2009, Mr. Li Yuxuan was at work when officers from the Shuangjing Police Station took him away. He was taken to the Chaoyang Detention Center the same day.

2. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wu Yefeng Beaten in Shenyang City Detention Center

Ms. Wu Yefeng has been held at the Shenyang City Detention Center for over seven months. Detention center guards have prohibited inmates from talking to her. In mid-January 2009, the guards smashed her head against a wall. After that, Ms. Wu became slow to think and react.

Ms. Wu was forced to stay out of town with nowhere to live for years. On June 15, 2008, officers from the Yaming Police Station in Huanggu District, Shenyang City followed and detained her. She was unlawfully held at the Shenyang City Detention Center. Ms. Wu went on a hunger strike so detention center guards brutally force-fed her salt water and other food. She has been sentenced to four years in prison. She remains on a hunger strike and is to be taken to a prison in the coming days.

3. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Practitioners Abused in Nanguanling Prison

Mr. Wang Qingzhu has been unlawfully held at the Nanguanling Prison in Dalian City. The guards shackled him for an extended period of time. His face has become disfigured as a result of brutal beatings. Other practitioners from the Shenyang area in Liaoning Province currently held at the prison include Ms. Wang Xin, Ms. Dong Weijia, Mr. Jing Yu, Mr. Cong Ming and Mr. Wang Miao.

4. [Mengyin County, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Rongqiu Sentenced to Forced Labor

Between January 19 and January 21, 2009, Ms. Zhang Rongqiu from Mengyin County was unlawfully sentenced to 18 months of forced labor by the 610 Office.

5. [Macheng City, Hubei Province] Additional Information on Mr. Dai Congli in Shayang Forced Labor Camp

In August 2007, a group of officers from the Huangtugang Town Police Station and the 610 Office pried open the door to Mr. Dai Congli's home. They placed Mr. Dai under detention and searched his home. Mr. Dai has been held at the Shayang Forced Labor Camp. He suffers from dizziness, heart problems, and weakness in all four limbs as a result of extensive abuse. His forced labor term has ended. The local police station officials have prevented his family from taking him home from the labor camp.

6. [Laixi City, Shandong Province] Ms. Jiang Xiuying and Ms. Cui Xiuhua Taken into Custody

On January 27, 2009, Ms. Jiang Xiuying and Ms. Cui Xiuhua from Wujiazhuang Village in Wubei Town, Laixi City were turned in to the police while telling others about Falun Dafa. Officers from the Yuanshang Town Police Station took the two practitioners into custody. Details are not yet available.
