Dance Professor: The Dances Are Magical (Photo)

Feb. 8, 2009

(Clearwisdom.net) On the evening of January 31, 2009, Divine Performing Arts (DPA) performed its third Chinese New Year Spectacular show at Denver's Buell Theatre. Korean dance professor Oyang Park attended the show and wanted to meet the choreographers because she was so deeply impressed by the dances.

Traditional Korean dance professor Oyang Park

"I was completely carried away"

The divine culture presented in the Spectacular made Ms. Oyang feel at home. "I was completely carried away. I haven't enjoyed myself like this for many years. I have never seen dances that combine many of the world's cultures, such as scenes from China, Japan, Korea and other ethnic groups. I felt the same about the music. It made me nostalgic. I wanted to also dance a Korean dance when listening to the music."

"I had the urge to dance with the dancers"

The beauty and gracefulness of the dances made Ms. Oyang want to join in and dance too: "When watching 'The Udumbara's Bloom,' I had the urge to be among the dancers. I felt as if I were one of them, because the delicate and graceful dance and the delightful music pulled me alongside the dancers."

"I wish to meet the choreographers"

Ms. Oyang was deeply impressed with the choreography. "The choreography was nothing less than miraculous! I really wish to meet the choreographers. I can't imagine how someone could link the movements in such an amazing way."

She continued, "There are several elements involved when choreographing a good dance, that is, the overall composition, the coordination with the music, and the delivery of the messages. The Spectacular has it all."

The music and dance complement each other flawlessly

Ms. Oyang thought the music was incredible because it coordinated perfectly with the dancers' movements. The dances were perfectly created. "Through the music, all the artists were tightly linked."

Dancers positioned in precise way

From a professional standpoint, Ms. Oyang gave the artists a perfect ten. "They had rich dance movements and facial expressions. They positioned themselves in such a precise fashion that it produced an excellent overall picture."

Best Color Presentation: Soft yet impressive!

Ms. Oyang was deeply impressed with the color combinations and said, "Good costume design creates colors that are soft and impressive. DPA's costume design surely achieved this! The sequins added a great touch to the costumes. Also, the clothes weren't flimsy, which conforms to the oriental tradition. The DPA dancers displayed unequaled movements because of these costumes. They also did not show a lot of skin."

Old elements will be gone and the new world has arrived

The high-tech backdrop was a hit with many audience members. Many were impressed and found a deeper meaning in the stories and in the backdrop. Ms. Oyang was one of those who felt the inner meaning. "Everyone who has seen the show will be energized spiritually. In the last program, it showed that the earth was purified and a new world had arrived, as the evil elements became history. I can understand it and it is what I believe in and hope for."
