Kaohsiung City Councilor: DPA Allows Us to Rethink Our Philosophy of Life

Mr. Huang Bolin, Kaohsiung City councilor, and his wife saw the show and were touched.

Mr. Huang Bolin, Kaohsiung city councilor

"From the dancers to the music and the backdrops, I could see that they were very dedicated. It was very moving. Embedded in it were different stories and figures from the history of China. [The stories] give us something to think about. It was very touching," said Mr. Huang.

"The costumes, the music, and the overall coordination indicated a very high-level performance. Many traditional [stories], classical music, and [Chinese] music were all combined together [well]. This performance also encourages us to experience and rethink our philosophy of life.

"People need to know how to respect others, experience life, and elevate their spirit. The overall combination of costumes and dances was very attractive. The emcees gave every program a [special] touch. I think it is impressive for this show to draw so many audience members."

Wife of a city council member: I feel Buddha's compassion and care for the world people

Ms. Lin Chi-he, wife of Council Member Mr. Huang, said, "I was very touched. I think we Chinese present superb shows that even surpass Western art, even though we learn Western culture. The five-thousand-year culture is reviving. I am stunned and pleased. In the dances, I felt Buddha's compassion and was pleased in my inner heart. The dancers performed very well. I am happy to watch this show.

"I was moved to tears by two programs. The first was the one on the persecution of a Falun Gong practitioner. I was impressed that deities brought him to heaven after he was tortured to death. The second one was the descent of Buddha to the human world. From the dancing and music, we can feel Buddha's compassion and care for the world's people. These were the two most touching programs."
City Councilor: I regret not seeing such a top-notch performance before

Kaohiung City Councilor Kan Yu-cheng said, "It was indeed very wonderful. I regret not seeing such a top-notch performance before. I was deeply touched, and I hope that I am able to urge the Kaohsiung City Government to establish a world-class concert hall in Kaohsiung as soon as possible, so that the residents in this city can appreciate the DPA's magnificent performance there as soon as possible.

"This is my first time to see the show. I'd heard a lot about DPA before, but I never got the chance to see it. Today proved that 'seeing is believing.' I noted many beautiful aspects about the show--dancers' body movements, martial arts, dancing skills, the colors, the voices, and the music," Ms. Kan commented.

Amazed by the presentation of the combination jumps, turns, other highly complicated acrobatic techniques, the councilor said that she didn't know that traditional Chinese dance could be performed so beautifully, and could be presented in this way. "It was indeed marvelous.

"The dancers' body movements were so soft and tender. In 'Dance of the Yi,' the Yi girls in colorful silk skirts were so beautiful, as if they were innocent flowers or spirits dancing on clouds in heaven. They were really fascinating. We also noted some cultural implications in the show. I've been to shows in foreign countries, such as those in Las Vegas and Paris, but today I finally found that a show with cultural implications is so beautiful, and the DPA show is much better than what I have seen overseas.

"From today's show, I learned some authentic Chinese culture, and I believe it was not formed in one or two days, as it is a far-reaching culture. DPA exquisitely presented the cultural feelings deep in our hearts. As the implications of gods and Buddha descending to the human world is part of the 5,000-year divinely bestowed culture, it is useful to promote it throughout the world."

Police Station Deputy Director: It is helpful for improving society's morality

Mr. Chang Lin, Deputy Director of Kaohsiung Police Station, said, "I've waited for a year to see the DPA show. The whole show, including the performers' skills and high-tech backdrops, was very touching. Each performer appears pure, kind, and beautiful. It is the best show I have ever seen in my life."

He continued, "I believe in Buddha. I was touched after seen such truth in the programs. Nowadays society's morality is declining. A performance such as this touches peoples' inner hearts and is, I think, helpful for improving society's morality. The DPA show is worth promoting."

Pen and Ink artist: The show inspired me to do better art work

Ms. Lin Chin-yu, a pen and ink artist, said after the show, "Great! I wish I were younger and could dance with them. Each program was great. The color coordinations are not of this world! The artistic presentations are not secular. Each performer is like a fairy from heaven. That soft dancing showed profound spirituality, very pure. It is like ultimate bliss. I liked it very much and wish to see it again."

Artist Ms. Lin Chin-yu

Ms. Lin continued, "Each program was great, especially 'Heaven Awaits Us despite Persecution.' It shows that, in cultivation, a practitioner needs to be steadfast whatever difficulty he faces and move forward courageously even in an unfavorable environment. I was touched in my inner heart. Also Ms. Yang Jiangsheng's song was unique. Her voice is rarely heard. I don't know another person that could surpass her. It was great and inspired me to do better art work."

Director of Culture Education Foundation: When the more difficult time comes, it represents the coming of a turnaround opportunity.

Mr. Chen Tian-fu, Director of Chen Chi-chuan Culture Education Foundation, said, "The performers conveyed their inner beliefs, and each gesture demonstrated that they were trained solidly because the spectators could feel that spirit. General commercial dance companies cannot show that spirit. A DPA show can touch people's hearts more than a general art show."

Mr. Chen said, "The opening program 'The Five Millennia Begin' told us that we were descended from heaven, and our original nature is kind. The last program in the first half was 'Heaven Awaits Us despite Persecution.' At most difficult time, deities came down to help the lead character. The program inspires us to be steadfast and confident in a hostile environment. When the more difficult time comes, it represents the coming of a turnaround opportunity."
