Ms. Zhang Nengmin's Life Is in Danger after Seven Months in Sichuan Women's Forced Labor Camp

March 27, 2009

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Zhang Nengmin, an acupuncture physician in Dazhou City, Sichuan Province, was persecuted in Sichuan Women's Forced Labor Camp. Forty years old and originally very healthy, she was persecuted and suffered a mental collapse. Her life is in peril.

Ms. Zhang's relatives went to the Seventh Section of Nanmusi Women's Forced Labor Camp to visit her. She was unable to walk or stand by herself and was held by two people. She was as thin as a skeleton and there was a scar on her face. One of her upper front teeth was missing. Her left ear could not been seen. It appeared to be wrapped with something and was quite scary looking.

Her face did not show any emotion or reactions. She did not say a single sentence when her relatives spoke to her. It was reported that she had no appetite, and she had trouble falling asleep. The intravenous injection given to her was unsuccessful. She had lost control of her bladder and bowels.

Ms. Zhang Nengmin (aka Zhang Jianxin) had many illnesses in the past. In less than a year after she began to practice Falun Gong, her illnesses were all gone. She followed a practitioner's standard of behavior, and charged her patients minimally for acupuncture treatments. She would charge less or treated the patients for free if they were poor. She wrote a letter to the head of Dazhou City to explain how she truly benefited after practicing, but the party secretary of the city got very angry, and ordered her arrest.

On the morning of April 1, 2008, over 10 people, led by Peng Yu from the 610 Office and Liu Xiaodong from the Beicheng Police Station, broke into Ms. Zhang's house. They turned her home upside down and took away all her DVDs and Falun Gong books. She managed to escape. At 2 p.m. on June 9, 2008, two days following her return home after being forced to stay away for over two months, a dozen of police officers led by Liu Xiaodong broke into her home. They arrested and detained her for over a month. She was forced into a labor camp for a year and a half.

On July 18, 2008, Ms. Zhang was taken to Sichuan Provincial Women's Forced Labor Camp in Nanmusi, Zizhong City, Sichuan Province. After being in the labor camp for 7 months, her life is in peril.

We appeal to people around the world for help. We hope that the world human rights organizations will investigate Ms. Zhang's case and make urgent rescue efforts.
