(Clearwisdom.net) Since the Chinese Communist Party began persecuting Falun Gong, the Qingyang District Procuratorate, and Chengdu City Court in Sichuan Province have persecuted and falsely sentenced more than ten Falun Gong practitioners. Ms. Huang Min, former deputy director of the Small Business Bureau of Chengdu City, was found being tortured to death on August 15, 2007 while in custody.
On March 3, 2007, Ms. Huang's family lost contact with her. Three months later in early June, personnel from the Qingyang District Court phoned Ms. Huang's family and said that she had been arrested and detained her at Xinhua Area Health Service Center in Qingyang District (also known as Qingyang District People's Hospital). The hospital issued a critical health notification for Ms. Huang. When Ms. Huang's family demanded to visit Ms. Huang, the police took out an arrest warrant on Ms. Huang Min and forced the family to sign it. The police threatened the family that they would not be allowed to visit her if they didn't sign the warrant.
When the family finally saw Ms. Huang, she was in a tightly-secured room less than twenty square meters in size, with a very narrow window covered with iron bars on the roof. In the summer the room was very hot and full of filthy air. Three single beds were in the room, one for Ms. Huang, and the other two for two female prisoners who were assigned to monitor Ms. Huang.
Ms. Huang's hands and feet were chained with very heavy shackles to the middle of the bed. Her nails were 2 to 3 cm (0.8 - 1.2 inches) long. Her pants were gone. Ms. Huang had not been allowed to wash, brush her teeth or cut her nails since she was arrested. She was very dirty and smelled. Her lower body was covered with a stained and filthy bedsheet. The room was installed with an electronic monitor, and seven or eight guards were stationed outside.
In mid-June 2007, someone from Qingyang Court phoned the family again and informed them that the sentence for Ms. Huang, who was at the hospital, had been changed to six years of forced labor. The court provided no written documentation or explanation of the crime Ms. Huang had allegedly committed.
Information from an inside source revealed that the so-called "court proceedings" had taken place in the room (described above) at the Qingyang District People's Hospital, when Ms. Huang was on the verge of death.
On August 15, the family received a phone call saying that Ms. Huang had died at 7:30 a.m. on that day. When the family saw her body, she only weighed about 55 pounds. Her facial expression showed a lot of pain, with her eyes barely opened, her head leaning to the right, her mouth wide open, and her upper teeth exposed. One of her bottom teeth was missing. An unknown pungent yellow colored drug was found in her mouth, with some covering her teeth and some on her face. Her fingers were clenched tightly as if she was trying to grab something. Her arms had black and blue finger-tip-size marks. The police forced the family to cremate her body that same day.
Other practitioners who have been charged and sentenced by Qingyang District Procuratorate, and court:
Ms. Luo Yingjie, 73, a retired teacher. Before the court proceedings took place, Ms. Luo had already been detained for nearly a year and had high blood pressure due to the persecution.
Ms. Gao Yonghui, 50 years old.
Mr. Zhu Xuezhi, around 60 years old, a retired engineer from the Water Conservation Design Institute, Chengdu City.
Ms. Li Bingnan, 64, a retired senior engineer. She was put on trial for mailing several letters clarifying the truth of Falun Gong and the persecution.
Ms. Li Guojun, a retired kindergarten teacher affiliated with No. 2 Railroad Bureau, Chengdu City.
Ms. Xiao Meizhi, a retired employee from No. 1 Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Plant, Chengdu City.
In October 2008, Qingyang District Procuratorate authorized the arrest of 34-year-old graduate student Ms. Li Yonghong from Xi'an Jiaotong University. On March 4, 2009, the court requested that the related unit provide additional information.
