The Women's Labor Center of Shanxi Hides Behind New Name: The Women's Drug Rehabilitation Center

July 12, 2009

(Clearwisdom.net) Because the Women's Labor Center of Shanxi persecuted Falun Gong practitioners, it was promoted to the so-called ministerial "civilized" labor center in 2008. This spring, in order to cover up its crimes and avoid public condemnation, the Women's Labor Center of Shanxi changed its name to the Women's Drug Rehabilitation Center of Shanxi. At present, more than 100 Falun Gong practitioners are still detained in this center. Some of them were transferred here from elsewhere before the Beijing Olympic Games. These practitioners have no basic human rights and they have been repeatedly insulted and humiliated by prisoners and wardens.

The third battalion of the center is mainly responsible for monitoring Falun Gong practitioners. Wardens in charge of this battalion include Liu Zhongmei, the instructor, and Lei Hongzhen, the captain. Since 2001, these two thugs have tightly followed the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners who want to refine themselves through the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Practitioners who remained firm in their beliefs were put under close surveillance and brainwashing. Liu and Lei had arranged drug addicts and criminal prisoners to isolate practitioners in storage rooms. They didn't allow them to go to sleep before midnight. When they got up at 5 a.m., drug addicts and criminal prisoners would curse at them all day long. Some police have threatened: "If you don't give up practicing Falun Gong, a day would drag on like a year. "

Liu Zhongmei and Lei Hongzhen are very hypocritical people. They secretly abetted drug addicts and criminal prisoners to commit crimes against practitioners. They told them: "No matter what you do to them, as long as no physical injury is seen from outside, you must force them to write a 'guarantee statement'. If they don't write it, you will lose points." These drug addicts and criminal prisoners all wanted to curry favor with the police, hoping that they would shorten their terms so they can go home early. Driven by this incentive, they started beating practitioners ruthlessly.

Guo Xiuyun, 50 years old, a practitioner from Miyun, Beijing City, was beaten and her front teeth were broken. In May of 2009, because she maintained that she was innocent and refused to write a guarantee statement, she was assaulted and beaten by Xiao Jun, a drug addict, and Zhao Lu, a criminal inmate. They kicked and pushed Ms. Guo when she was going downstairs, she almost fell down the stairs. She developed high blood pressure. Later, the doctor found a scar on her arm and asked her what had happened. She said: "They beat me."

Ms. Huang Ling, 34 years old, a Falun Gong practitioner from Beijng, was a lecturer at the Media University. Because she didn't give up the practice and went around telling people the truth of the persecution, Liu and Lei transferred her to the third battalion where she was forced to do hard labor. After Ms. Huang refused to compromise with them, they forced her to stand for a long period of time. She becomes thinner and weaker every day.

Ms. Zhou Gaiying, 55 years old , a practitioner from Yuci, Shanxi Province, was deprived of sleep for upholding her belief and refusing to write a "guarantee statement." In mid-April she was deprived of sleep for three days and nights. During nighttime, Wang Xi, a drug addict, would grab Ms. Zhou's hair and bang her against the wall. She would finally stop when Ms. Zhou's face turned pale.

Ma Ruizhen, 50 years old, a practitioner from Yuncheng City, Shanxi Province, was beaten by drug addicts Xiao Jun and Di Yuehong because she refused to write any "transformation" statements. They threw her against the wall. She suffered injuries to her head and her body was covered with bruises.

Wang Junfeng, 29 years old, a practitioner from Loufan County, Taiyuan City, was forced to stand for a long period of time and was put into solitary confinement. She was forced to stand for 10 hours a day without changing positions. Drug addicts took turns to watch her. Ms. Wang is still detained there.

Ms. Gao Shuying, 48 years old, is a practitioner from Changzhi City. She was held in the Maoerling Prison in Yuci, Jinzhong City for three years. In June of 2008, she was taken to the Women's Labor Center of Shanxi. Because she didn't give up practicing Falun Gong, she was transferred to the third section. She was forced to stand for a long period of time because she refused to do any hard-labor. In November of 2008, she was beaten for no reason by drug addicts which was actually to frame her for "getting involved in a fight." Her prison term was thus extended for three months, and she is still detained in the third section.

Recently, the labor center received a large order for colored bulbs which are assembled with small strings. Practitioners are forced to work from 7:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m., and their workloads are very heavy. Especially elderly practitioners who have difficulty seeing, this kind of work causes a lot of fatigue and mental pressure on them.
