Older People Arrested and Mistreated by Officers from Xiangyang Police Station in Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province

Aug. 17, 2009

(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Li Yuxiu, a Falun Gong practitioner in his later years, lives in a residence building of the Shuanyashan City Mineral Administration in Heilongjiang Province. At about 10 a.m. on July 28, 2009, Li Xuefei, deputy chief of the Xiangyang Police Station of the Jianshan District, Shuangyashan City; police chief Peng Jianqiu; and police officers Jin Guanghui and Gao Xijiang broke into and searched Mr. Li's home without following any legal procedures. They confiscated personal property, including Falun Gong books and audiotapes. They arrested three people who were visiting Mr. Li, all of whom were over 60 years old, and his housekeeper, 42, and took them all to Xiangyang Police Station.

In the police station, Peng Jianqiu interrogated the housekeeper with violence. Peng said, "We will release you if you curse the founder of Falun Gong. Do you practice Falun Gong?" The housekeeper said, "I just read the Falun Gong books and have not yet started to practice Falun Gong." Peng then seized her hair and hit her forehead against the wall violently three or four times. She felt as if her skull had broken, and the skin on her forehead was terribly bruised. Peng also punched her right eye and her mouth. She then couldn't open her eyes. Her right eye remained black and blue even nine days afterwards. Peng did not stop beating her until she said that she did practice Falun Gong.

As of now, all those who were arrested have been released. However, when one of the victims went to the police station to get back his new MP3 player that was confiscated by the police, they gave him an old one and kept his new one for themselves.

On January 7, 2008, Ms. Wang Yaojun, a practitioner in her sixties living in the Xiangyang District in Shuangyashan City, was violently beaten by Peng Jianqiu at the Xiangyang Police Station. She was then fastened to an iron chair with her feet shackled and was cruelly beaten. As a result, her eyes were blackened, her legs were injured, and she could not even get herself into bed.
