(Clearwisdom.net) (Correspondent from Liaoning Province) Falun Gong practitioner Dr. Meng Yuhua's parents received a call from the Liaoning Province Women's Prison on August 24 notifying them to visit their daughter because she was in critical condition. When they went to the prison, one prison guard told them that Dr. Meng was in critical condition because she suffered from a severe potassium deficiency and that Dr. Meng had refused injections or any other medication, and that she had signed a release so that the prison would not be held accountable.
Dr. Meng's parents asked the prison guard if their daughter could be released on bail so that she could receive medical attention. A prison guard told them that she would not be released even if she died, because she refused to plead guilty, and that she would have to serve forced labor.
Dr. Meng was in good health before she was sent to prison. Ten days prior, Dr. Meng's brother went to visit her and she was fine.
In 2002, Dr. Meng was arrested and brutally beaten by police from the Dadong District Yaochang Police Station in Shenyang City. While she was being detained in the city detention center, her husband died in a car accident. The family speculates that the stress of his wife's situation was the reason he had the accident. She was released after protesting by way of a hunger strike
Dr. Meng was again arrested by officers from the 610 Office in Shenyang City and Kangping County and detained in a detention center. The Shenyang Dadong Court sentenced her to 13 years in prison for downloading and printing truth-clarification materials.
Dr. Meng is currently incarcerated at the Sixth Group of the Ninth Team in the Liaoning Province Women's Prison (in the Masanjia Prison). She is a very steadfast Falun Gong practitioner who resists the persecution. Prison guards said that Dr. Meng refused to be "transformed," and that she passed notes to others and shouted "Falun Dafa is good!" to protest the persecution.
