England: Bringing Falun Dafa to Chinatown and Trafalgar Square in London (Photos)

Sept. 2, 2009 |   By Minghui reporter Tang Xiuming

(Clearwisdom.net) On August 29, 2009, the day before the 2009 England Falun Dafa Experience Sharing Conference took place, Falun Gong practitioners held a parade in London. Practitioners from around England gathered in central London to introduce people to the beauty of Falun Dafa and to expose the brutal persecution in China.

Besides the parade, practitioners also set up tables and displays at Trafalgar Square in front of St. Martin-in-the-Fields Church and in Chinatown to inform more people about the facts of Falun Dafa and the illegal persecution of the practice in China.

Chinese people carefully read the facts of the persecution of Falun Gong in China.

The parade started off the Chinese Consulate in London and moved to the busy business district and Chinatown and finally to Trafalgar Square.

The music of "Pudu" accompanied the parade. Passersby looked at the pictures of Falun Gong practitioners who died as a result of torture with concern. Following the pictures were banners saying "Falun Dafa Is Good," "The World Needs Truth-Compassion-Forbearance," "Stop the Persecution of Falun Gong," "Support 59 Million Chinese People Who Quit the Chinese Communist Party," and "Dissolve the CCP to Stop the Persecution."

Alongside the parade procession, practitioners gave out Falun Gong fliers. People read them right away.

A girl asked practitioners in the parade about Falun Gong. One gave her a flier with information on Falun Gong and the facts of the suppression in China. After listening to the practitioner's explanation, the girl joined the parade. She said that she came from Poland and studied literature in England. This was the first time she had heard of Falun Gong, but she said that she understood the violent nature of Communist Party from the history of Poland. "I am glad the young generation has abandoned Communism," she said.

The girl told the practitioner that she had been hearing news about the CCP violating human rights and was thinking that perhaps there was something she could do, so when she ran into the Falun Gong parade, she decided to join in. When the parade got to Chinatown, she went to the Falun Gong table to learn more about the practice.

After the parade ended, several practitioners continued to disseminate information on Falun Gong at Trafalgar Square. They put up banners and displays. Several started demonstrating the exercises and others gave out Falun Dafa newsletters and fliers. Others encouraged people to sign the petition calling for an end to the persecution.

People added their signatures to condemn the persecution of Falun Gong.

People often asked why the CCP was persecuting Falun Gong. After they learned what happened in China, many wished to learn more about the teachings of Falun Gong.

Anna asked questions about Falun Gong.

Anna used to live in East Germany. After reading about how Falun Gong practitioners are brutally tortured, she added her signature to the petition. She believed the accounts of torture were true, because her grandfather was sent to prison for writing an article criticizing Communism. As she was talking, a friend of hers arrived, and Anna encouraged her to sign the petition, too.
