(Clearwisdom.net) Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, several hundred Falun Gong practitioners in Shandong Province have been illegally sentenced and sent to Shandong Women's Prison. Three prison wards have been added since 2000, and they are still expanding. One ward is specifically designed for persecuting Falun Gong practitioners, but other wards also carry out the persecution. Some of the reported persecution cases are listed below.
Ms. Liu Hongmei was persecuted nearly to death in Ward No. 7, but still had to do forced labor. Criminal inmates were ordered to carry her into the workshop every morning.
Ms. Gu Hailian has been persecuted in Ward No. 3, while her sister Ms. Gu Haimei suffered persecution in Ward No. 2 (see below).
Persecution in Ward No. 2
Head of Ward No. 2 Gao Ying is the primary person in charge of persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. She often uses forceful methods of torture to "transform" practitioners, including solitary confinement, electric shock, beatings, sleep deprivation, exposure to freezing temperatures, being forced to remain in a squatting position for long periods and not being allowed to wash.
The guards at Ward No. 2 instructed murderer inmate Yao Huaifang to beat Ms. Lu Fenghua. She pushed Ms. Lu against the wall and then threw her comforter into the hallway. Ms. Lu was bleeding, but Gao Ying, Zhao Feiyan, Sun Xiaoli, and other guards didn't send her to a hospital for treatment. Instead, they confined her in a solitary cell and forced her to write the three statements.
Ms. Lu Yuying went on a hunger strike to protest against the persecution for several months, but she was force-fed every day. Gao Ying and Sun Xiaoli also used electric batons to shock her. They also ordered other inmates to monitor her even while she was using the restroom.
Ms. Gu Haimei was sent to the "special group," where she was beaten and tortured because she refused to give up practicing Falun Gong.
Ms. Su Cuihua went to visit her husband, who is being detained in the connected men's prison. She was then accused of trying to escape because she walked out of the sight of guard Gao Ying. Ms. Su was then brutally beaten and confined in a solitary cell. She was later sent to the "special group" for a long time. When she returned to Ward No. 2, she could barely talk.
Ms. Zhang Zengmei was brutally beaten by guard Zhao Feiyan.
Ms. Zhao Yulian had been sentenced for economic crimes and Ms. Pu Ermei had been sentenced for drug trafficking. After they got to know practitioners in the prison and came to understand that Falun Gong is good, both became practitioners. Once guards searched Ms. Zhao and found a Falun Gong lecture transcribed in Ms. Pu's handwriting. Both practitioners were then electrically shocked and beaten by guards Gao Ying, Sun Xiaoli, Song Bing, Liu Hongtao, and Wang Jie.
Ms. Pu was was beaten with two electric batons, struck down to the floor and then pulled up by her hair. Her nose bled as a result. Guard Liu Hongtao also stomped on her feet until her socks became bloody. Scars on her feet are still visible today. Guards then instructed inmate Zhang Jingqin to clean up the blood from the floor to eliminate any evidence of their crime. Ms. Pu was then forced to stay in a squatting position from morning to night and was not allowed to sleep.
After less than ten days following this incident, Ms. Pu was electrically shocked because she refused to sing a CCP song. Guard Sun Xiaoli then asked her to admit she was wrong, which she refused. The guards then confined her in a solitary cell and tried to force her to write the three statements, but she refused to cooperate again. After two weeks, she became very pale and thin.
Ms. Pu was sentenced to five years in prison and was detained in Ward No. 2 for over four years. She should have been released early because her case was determined to lack sufficient evidence, but she was not released because she practices Falun Gong. Her husband could not handle the persecution, and left her and their children while she was imprisoned. Her nearly 70-year-old father had to take care of her two daughters. When her father went to visit her in the prison, Gao Ying threatened him, "Your daughter will not be released unless she is 'transformed.'" Under the financial and psychological pressure, her father's condition deteriorated and he passed away soon after she was finally released.
