Ms. Li Yan Transferred to the "Intensive Training Group" in Beijing Women's Labor Camp

Oct. 16, 2010 |   By a Clearwisdom correspondent from Beijing

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Li Yan has been persecuted in Beijing Women's Labor Camp for over two years, and has recently been transferred to the "Intensive Training Group" and subjected to more severe abuse.

Ms. Li, in her late thirties, is from Dezhou City, Shandong Province. Her parents used to be farmers, and her mother committed suicide when she was only 17 years old. Due to financial problems she had to find employment while working toward her college degree. When she graduated she became a teacher at a school for foreign students. She is a single mother and has to look after her 8-year-old daughter on her own.

When Ms. Li was first arrested in 2005 and sentenced to the Beijing Women's Labor Camp, she was also transferred to the Training Group, and was deprived of her basic human rights. She was also forced to sit on a stool for over 20 hours a day, and was not allowed to wash her hair, take a shower or change her clothes. The guards did not give her adequate food to eat each day, deprived her of sleep and did not give her enough clothes to keep warm in the winter. Guard Jingbin Du ordered inmates to swear at her and torture her. Jingbin Du once dragged her by the back of her collar, nearly choking her.

Ms. Li was arrested again in June 2008, and was sentenced to two and half years in Beijing Women's Labor Camp. This time she was held in the sixth team. Because she refused to renounce her belief, she was deprived of sleep and was isolated in the tenth cell, where she was monitored by inmates. Each team has ten cells. The tenth cell is at the end of the corridor, and faces north, making it extremely cold in the winter. Ms. Li refused to cooperate with the guards.

When Ms. Li renounced her belief under the intense pressure of her persecution, she was filled with pain and regret and fainted a few times because of heart problems. In the early summer of 2010, Ms. Li shouted "Falun Dafa is good" in a corridor, and was sent to the Intensive Training Group.

Ms. Li's sentence is due to expire on December 24, 2010.
