Jiangsu Province Women's Forced Labor Camp Virulently Persecutes Falun Gong Practitioners

Oct. 19, 2010 |   By a Clearwisdom correspondent from Jiangsu Province

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioners have suffered persecution at the Jiangsu Province Women's Forced Labor Camp's Third Division for a long time. They have been physically abused by having to stand for long periods of time, not being allowed to rest, being beaten, or being subjected to other abuse. They were also limited in the amount of drinking water they could consume or forbidden to drink water at all. The practitioners abused include Zhang Yuhua, Xie Lihua, Wang Sanxiu, Hu Huangjiao, Tong Ruixia, Fan Yunjuan, Yu Wenjuan, Wang Juanling, Lu Xiuying, Zheng Cuifang, Chen Xiuzhen, Hu Zhenru, Wu Shunzhen, Li Cailan, Li Baozhu, Chen Qinfang, and others.

Ms. Zhang Yuhua Suffers from Ruthless Abuse and Gross Mistreatment

Ms. Zhang Yuhua, 49 years old, rented a house and asked several other practitioners to help her move. Soon after, Yaohuamen Police Station local agents arrived and confiscated her personal belongings. Ms. Zhang was then subjected to one-and-a-half years of forced labor. This is her third illegal arrest and detainment at the hands of the Chinese Communist Party.

Practitioners in the Third Division of the forced labor camp were forced to ask permission for everything, including eating and restroom use. Ms. Li Cailan was unwilling to ask for permission. As a result, the guards incited inmates who were assigned to monitor her to deprive her of food, and then lied that she was on a hunger strike. They then asked a doctor to force-feed her. She was also forbidden to use the toilet for eight days.

Ms. Zhang entered the labor camp at the beginning of June 2009, during a period of hot weather. After three months of standing under the scorching sun, she lost a lot of weight and got severely sunburned. For food, she only received a small bowl of liquid congee in the morning that could hardly sustain her for one or two hours. The quantities of her next two meals were also intentionally reduced. As a result, Ms. Zhang was always hungry. The inmates who monitored her would physically abuse Ms. Zhang by making her stand for a long time.

Tang Guofang was a main persecutor of Falun Gong practitioners at the forced labor camp. He held a brainwashing session during the second half of 2009. He deceived and forced several firm practitioners to participate in the session and do "homework." If one refused to participate or do the homework, he would immediately inform the division officials to prepare paperwork to extend the practitioners' term with the excuse of "not obeying instructions." Tang Guofang worked in the labor camp for more than three months before departing.

Ms. Zhang Yuhua's term has been extended. Because of Tang Guofang, Ms. Zhang was transferred to the First Division in February 2010 and has been forced to do heavy labor more than ten hours each day.

Ms. Zheng Cuifang Suffers Cruel Persecution

Ms. Zheng Cuifang is a practitioner from the Nantong area. She was subjected to forced labor for two years in the second half of 2009 and detained in the Third Division. When her captors found her determined not to give up her belief, they transferred her to the Strictly Controlled Team on the third floor. She was subjected to daily intensive "training." This involved several tactics, for instance, being forced to balance a book on top of the head or holding it under the arm for a long time.

During the severely cold winter, Ms. Zheng was forbidden to wear warm clothing. One day she shouted, "The Communist Party persecutes Falun Gong." She was immediately gagged and had her mouth taped shut, and several guards beat her, injuring her chest and hands. After several months in the camp, a once healthy woman became emaciated.

Practitioners in the Third Division who didn't give up their belief were forbidden to sleep before midnight and forced to get up half an hour or an hour earlier than other inmates.

In February 2010, the division gave up trying to "reform" Ms. Zheng, and transferred her to the Fourth Division. Two inmates who had monitored her previously continued to monitor her. She was made to stand for more than ten hours a day to do labor.

One day in March, she decided to no longer cooperate with their work demands and went on a hunger strike in protest. She was transferred back to the Third Division. The guards there assigned several criminals to drag her to the cafeteria three times a day, as well as to the recovery center, for brutal force-feeding. When she told the doctor that one side of her nose was swollen and hurt, the doctor immediately slapped her face.

After being on a hunger strike for more than a month, Ms. Zheng's cotton-padded coat was torn apart, and her buttocks bled from the injuries caused by the physical abuse. Ms. Zheng was also forced to remain naked for several hours every day.

She was transferred to the Second Division in April 2010. She was kept in a separate cell and forbidden to get food from the cafeteria. There are three or four inmates assigned to monitor her.

Practitioners Who Refused to Give Up Their Belief Were Subjected to Severe Physical Abuse

Plainclothes agents arrested Nanjing practitioner Ms. Xie Lihua when she got together with practitioner Li Baozhu on July 1, 2009. Participating in the arrest were agents from the Muxuyuan Police Station, who sentenced her to one and a half years of forced labor. This is her third time being arrested and detained. She was transferred to the Third Division in August 2009. Inmate Xu Min, who was assigned to monitor Ms. Xie, only allowed her to have a tiny bit of water each day during the hot summer. The inmates who monitored Ms. Xie grossly abused her. Sometimes several of them would lift her up and throw her to the floor. They would beat and scold her constantly. Ms. Xie was only allowed to go to sleep at midnight or even as late as 2:00 a.m., and then was ordered to get up early in the morning. Ms. Xie's term was extended for refusing to give up her belief. During this time, her 11-year-old child was left at home without her mother.

Practitioner Ms. Wang Sanxiu refused to participate in the calisthenics. The guards ordered several inmates to drag her from upstairs to the yard, to force her to participate.

Ms. Yu Lixia, 57 years old, is from Yangzhou City. She refused to submit to brainwashing. Guards forced her to do calisthenics during the day without a break in the middle, and stand until midnight. She was ordered to get up early in the morning and forbidden to drink water. After several months in the hot summer, she became emaciated. Her feet and legs were swollen. Practitioners Ms. Wang Juanling, Wang Wenjuan, and others also suffered similar gross abuse and mistreatment. Some inmates who monitored them even forbade them to use the toilet.

Ms. Hu Zhenru refused to do forced labor. As a result, a group of people beat her. Her term was later extended.
