As Practitioners, We Must Cultivate Our Speech

Oct. 19, 2010 |   By a practitioner from Tangshan City, Hebei Province

(Clearwisdom.net) Today I shared some of my experiences with practitioner A. As Dafa practitioners, we should at all times follow the standards that Master has put forward. In Zhuan Falun, Master taught us about the cultivation of speech. Although the environment has become more relaxed and the evil has become weaker, as long as the evil is not yet completely eliminated, it will interfere and exploit the gaps of practitioners who have human attachments. We should be responsible not only for our own cultivation, but also for the safety of fellow practitioners.

Practitioner A told me a story. She said that practitioner B once came to her house and asked her to join in producing truth-clarification materials. Practitioner B also talked about how she made the materials, who she contacted, and with whom she went to distribute them. Hearing that, I worried for practitioner B. Long ago, practitioner B also told me the whole, detailed process of her materials production, and she also mentioned it to practitioner C. At that time, I told her not to share that with anybody, including her family, friends, and fellow practitioners. I told her that we should just quietly fulfill our responsibilities and follow Master's requirements. It is inappropriate to tell the details of her producing materials to fellow practitioners because it could cause jealousy and competition among practitioners. The evil would then exploit the gap if practitioners have those attachments. However, practitioner B didn't listen to me and said impatiently, "Don't be afraid. I know what to do. Now there is less evil, not as much as in the past." I reminded her about the need to cultivate our speech.

When practitioner A told me this today, I felt that as practitioners we must cultivate our speech. We all have the responsibility to maintain our cultivation environment. It is not necessary to show off to anyone, because what we've done is not to impress others. If we can do it well, we gain mighty virtue. Otherwise, we will have regret in the future. I don't know why practitioner B spoke about these things. Maybe she felt that fellow practitioners should trust each other and there should be no secrets. Master requires that we cultivate our speech. Instead of speaking or asking about things that shouldn't be spoken or asked about, we should quietly fulfill our own responsibilities. Defending oneself for telling fellow practitioners about the whole process of producing materials without considering the consequences is covering up a strong attachment--the mentality of showing off. How dangerous it is if practitioners produce truth-clarification materials but don't cultivate their speech! Master said, "Dafa disciples, all the way until their last step to Consummation, will be tested as to whether they can make it." ("Teaching the Fa in the City of Los Angeles" in 2006) Cultivation is letting go of human attachments. There is no need to show off what we've done. It is all recorded in the cosmos. We really should cultivate until no single omission is found.

It is not coincidental for me to hear about the story, as I also have a hidden mentality of showing off, and I also liked to tell other practitioners about what I've done. Today I wrote this article, first to remind practitioners about the cultivation of speech that Master requires and to discipline ourselves with the Fa at all times, and second to remind myself to take the Fa as Master and to dig out the attachments hidden deep in my heart.
