(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Ling Li from Kunming was subjected to a five-year prison term for remaining steadfast in her belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

At around 5:00 p.m. on April 21, 2009, when Ms. Ling Li was at home with her ten-year-old son who was doing his homework, six officers from the Xishan District 610 Office and the Kunming City Domestic Security Division, including Qiu Xueyan and Wang Zhonggao, broke into her home and illegally arrested her. They ransacked her home and confiscated Falun Gong books, Shen Yun performance DVDs, a cell phone, a computer, a printer, and other personal property. Ms. Ling was held at the Xishan District Detention Center before she was formally arrested on May 28, 2009.

Kunming City Intermediate Court officials held a trial for Ms. Ling at 8:30 a.m. on November 19, 2009. Ms. Ling hired lawyer Li Jinglin from Beijing, who entered an innocent plea for her. The court officials did not announce the verdict in court that day. However, under orders from the 610 Office, the Kunming City Intermediate Court issued a guilty verdict on November 30, 2009, sentencing her to five years in prison. Ms. Ling was sent to the Yunnan Province No. 2 Women's Prison.

Ms. Ling was subjected to severe abuse and torture in the prison. She was placed in solitary confinement, and made to sit on a small bench for long periods of time, as well as subjected to other torture methods. She was greatly harmed both physically and mentally.

In September, 2010 Ms. Ling's mother Ms. Wu Fengxian submitted an appeal to the Yunnan Province Supreme Court and the Yunnan Province Procuratorate, requesting that her daughter's case be reviewed, her good reputation be restored, and her confiscated items be returned.
