(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 16 cities or counties in 12 provinces. In this report, 19 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least nine practitioners were illegally arrested.

Shaowu Police Department Domestic Security Division head Zhao Yong and others arrested Ms. Wei Jianyu on February 20, 2006 as she made Falun Gong [[truth-clarification}} materials at home. They took her to the Shaowu City Detention Center. Ms. Wei had just been released from a forced labor camp three months earlier. Shaowu City Court officials covertly sentenced her to four years' incarceration on March 26, 2007 and sent her to the Fujian Province Women's Prison. No further information has been received of her.
3. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Shaodan Arrested
Ms. Wang Shaodan from the Hanting District along with her family celebrated her parent's birthday at her mother's home on February 18, 2010. Six Hanting District Domestic Security Division officers broke into their home at around 11:00 a.m. and forcibly dragged Ms. Wang into a police vehicle. She is now at the Weifang Detention Center.

4. [Daqing, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Bai Shuang Officially Arrested
Donghu Police Department officers arrested Mr. Baishuang at home in Xinsan Village in the Ranghulu District on January 15, 2010. He has been at the Daqing No. 3 Detention Center. Donghu Police Department officials told Mr. Bai's family around the Chinese New Year holiday of her official arrest. His case had been transferred to the Ranghulu District Procuratorate.

5. [Huaihua, Hunan Province] Ms. Peng Guoqing Given a Prison Term
Yuanling County 610 Office agents along with agents from the Domestic Security Division and the Chengnan Police Station broke into the home of Ms. Peng Guoqing in Yuanling County on September 18, 2009. They took Ms. Peng to the county detention center and confiscated her Falun Gong books and materials. To our knowledge, Yuanling County Court officials covertly sentenced her some time prior to the Chinese New Year holiday, without informing her family.
Ms. Peng Guoqing, 57, was subjected to four arrests, detention and home ransacking, and was locked up in the Huaihua City Brainwashing Center to undergo transformation sessions. She was sentenced to three and a half years of imprisonment in February 2001 and was held at the Changsha Women's Prison. She was released in 2004. The county 610 Office and agents from the Domestic Security Division, police station, and residential committee broke into Ms. Peng's home numerous times to harass her. This recent arrest led to another long-term sentence.

6. [Pengshan County, Sichuan Province] Mr. Liu Dehai Arrested and Held in Custody
Mr. Liu Dehai, 58, from Shuiquangou Village, Qinglong Town was reported on February 19, 2010 as he posted signs about Falun Gong in Suzhangzi Village. Village Party secretary Liu Xu beat him and took him to the Qinglong County Police Station. Duty officer Liu Yanwen then took him to the detention center that afternoon.
Qinglong County Police Department head Lu Zhandong along with Qinglong Town Police Station officer Wang Guiyou and two others broke into Mr. Liu's home on the morning of February 21, 2010, confiscating a photo of the founder of Falun Gong, Falun Dafa exercise audio tapes and 400 yuan cash.

7. [Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province] An Elderly Woman Practitioner Arrested
Xinjiang Road Police Station officers broke into the home of an elderly woman practitioner who sells goods at the Yunjian Market on the afternoon of February 22, 2010. They arrested and took her to the Xinjiang Road Police Station.

8. [Funing County, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Xuemei Arrested
Shimenzhai Police Station officer Liu Naiguang and two female officers arrested Ms. Wang Xuemei outside the Hualian Shopping Center in Shimenzhai around 11:00 am on February 23, 2010.

9. [Shandong Province] Mr. Wu Shandong Arrested
Mr. Wu Shandong is from Xinsangdu Village, Rengang Town, Jiyang County. Zouping County 610 Office agents Cheng Kun and Su Fengshou arrested him at the Haoxing Shopping Center in Zouping County on September 21, 2009. They also confiscated 16, 000 yuan cash, a cell phone (worth about 2,500 yuan), two computers (worth 6,000 yuan), and several computer accessories. They took Mr. Wu to a detention center that same day. Mr. Wu has been on a protest hunger strike since he was sent there and is now at the Shandong Province No. 2 Forced Labor Camp for a three-year sentence.

Dali County Domestic Security Division officers arrested Ms. Yang Cuixia, Mr. Yang Li, Mr. Xu Genfa, Mr. Zhang Jianhua, Ms. Li Tingfang, and Mr. Li Junhong in early July 2009. They also confiscated the practitioners' computers, printers and other items.
Ms. Li Tingfang and Mr. Li Junhong have been held for one month and two weeks, respectively. No further information has been received about Ms. Yang Cuixia, Mr. Yang Li, Mr. Xu Genfa and Mr. Zhang Jianhua.

12. [Zunhua, Hebei Province] Ms. Cheng Yanshuang Placed under Emergency Care in a Hospital Because of Severe Abuse after Recent Arrest
Ms. Cheng Yanshuang and Ms. Ma Cuiyan from Zunhua City spoke with people about Falun Gong in Xindianzi Village at 2:00 p.m. on February 18, 2010. Village accountant Liu Guozeng along with village Party secretary Zhang Enfu and twenty villagers arrested the two practitioners. A village official beat Ms. Cheng Yanshuang so violently that she fell down. Her legs were injured and she was unable to walk. Ms. Ma Cuiyan had her right foot injured. After that, a village official reported them to the police and took the practitioners to the Xindianzi Town Police Station. The police sent the practitioners to a hospital for X- rays. Ms. Ma's right foot sustained a comminuted fracture. The police called Ms. Ma's village officials and ordered them to take her back.
Xindianzi Town government officials along with officers from the town police station and Zunhua City Domestic Security Division ransacked the two practitioners' homes, confiscating books, cell phones and other personal belongings. Xindianzi Town government and police station officers took Ms. Cheng Yanshuang to the Zunhua City Domestic Security Division on the morning of February 19, 2010 and held her in a brainwashing facility. Ms. Cheng was severely abused and is now undergoing emergency treatment in the Zunhua City People's Hospital. Two police officers monitor her around the clock.

13. [Genhe City, Inner Mongolia] Ms. Sheng Xiuwen Persecuted - Belated Information
Genhe City No. 2 Police Station officer Yu Wanlin deceived Ms. Sheng Xiuwen into going to the police station on October 12, 2001. The police interrogated Ms. Sheng and tried to coerce her to sign a guarantee statement to renounce Falun Gong. The police also ransacked her home.

Huadu District police recently suspected Ms. Huang Xia of having posted messages about Falun Gong. They ransacked her home and continuously harass her.
16. [Ningbo, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Yao Aifen Held in Custody
Ms. Yao Aifen, Ms. Zhou Meiyu and Ms. Zhou Caidi from Xiangshan spoke with people about Falun Gong in Dancheng on January 30, 2010. They were reported and taken to a detention center. Ms. Zhou Meiyu and Ms. Zhou Caidi were released prior to February 14, 2010. Ms. Yao is still at the detention center.
17. [Gangu County, Gansu Province] Mr. Niu Ruiyi and Ms. Mao Xiulan Held in Custody
Gangu County Police Department officers took Ms. Wang Zhilan into custody and released her on February 9, 2010; Ms Wang's husband Mr. Niu Ruiyi and Ms. Mao Xiulan from Dashi Village, Dashi Township are still held in custody.
The local police broke into Ms. Mao's residence on January 28, 2010 and confiscated a computer, three printers, one box of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, one box of DVDs of a Shen Yun performance, Falun Gong books and materials, and a CD burner. Ms. Mao was only clad in thin clothes at the time of the arrest and suffered from cold for three days at the detention center.
To our knowledge, Gangu County Police Department Domestic Security Division agents also took 6,080 yuan cash from Ms. Wang Xiulan. She had borrowed the money to buy a house for her son.
18. [Chongqing] Ms. Zhao Zhongzhen Arrested
Ms. Zhao Zhongzhen, 57, from Panxi in Jiangbei District, was arrested on February 17, 2010 as she distributed Falun Gong materials near her daughter's home in the Yubei District. The police ransacked her daughter's home in her daughter's absence.
