Crimes Committed by Chengdu City Women's Prison and Police Hospital

March 4, 2010 |   By a correspondent in Chengdu City

(Clearwisdom.net) Chengdu City Women's Prison and the Police Hospital are both places where the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecutes Falun Gong practitioners.

In the No. 6 Ward of the women's prison, guard Zhao Hongmei uses various means to torture Falun Gong practitioners, leading to a number of practitioners giving up their practice. Ward head Wen collaborates with Zhao Hongmei in the persecution.

Practitioners Li Xiaoyu, Zhang Peiyun, Yu Ziming, Yao Jiaxiu, Gao Hongxiang, Lu Tao, Chen Zhilian and Zhu Yifang have experienced the most mistreatment. Monitored around the clock by inmates who are murderers or drug addicts, these practitioners are prohibited from having contact with anyone.

Once an elderly inmate felt sympathy for Zhu Yifang and left two pieces of candy by the side of her pillow. This inmate was later ordered to go to the office and was interrogated. The guards also threatened to extend her term. Another inmate was punished because she gave two oranges to practitioner Li Xiaoyu. Another inmate was punished for helping a practitioner carry her quilt.

The guards also go after the practitioners financially. Even if the practitioners have money in their accounts, the guards don't allow them to buy anything including toilet paper, pads and other daily necessities. Practitioner Zhong Qunfang had to tear her bed sheet into strips when she had her menstrual periods, as she was not allowed to buy pads. Her face was swollen due to physical torture from inmates. This is combined with not being given enough food for long periods of time. She is given only a small portion of pickled vegetables to eat every day, and is not allowed to buy food.

The guards also isolate the practitioners and stir up hatred among the inmates against them. The inmates are severely punished if they help the practitioners. Points towards an early release are taken away, and sometimes their terms are extended. The guards also instigate the inmates to physically and verbally abuse the practitioners.

Practitioner Zhu Yifang refused to wear the jail uniform or respond to roll calls because she believes that she has done nothing wrong. The guards retaliated by stripping her down to her underwear and bra, and locked her in a small cell where a person cannot stand up straight. She was prohibited from speaking to anyone. Her family was not allowed to see or communicate with her in any way.

The long-term torture caused severe swelling all over her body, and because of that, Ms. Zhu was rendered unable to walk. Her stomach bulged due to fluid retention, and her back had a bump. She was taken to the prison hospital for further abuse. In the hospital, Ms. Zhu refused to eat and refused an IV containing a suspicious-looking liquid. She was subsequently transferred to the Chengdu City Police Hospital, where her limbs were tied to a bed frame by five male criminals. She was then injected with the same liquid, which immediately caused sharp, stabbing pain all over her body. She was injected several times daily for a period of six months.

Even though Ms. Zhu suffered from severe torture, she remained steadfast in her belief. The long-term IV injections caused her skin to be infected at the needle insertion point, but the prison doctor threatened that if she did not give up Falun Gong, they would cut the arteries on her neck and insert the IV there. The doctors also threatened other steadfast practitioners, stating that if they still refused to submit to the prison rules, the doctors would do the same to them.

Elderly practitioner Hu Mingying was transferred from Jianyang Women's Prison to the Police Hospital. Ms. Hu was forced to do hard labor because she refused to give up Falun Gong. When she was too exhausted to walk, the guards just dragged her. When she suffered a broken leg, the guards still forced her to continue walking or dragged her. As a result, her leg was eventually permanently disabled.

Practitioner Tang Chengying was transferred from the No. 2 Ward of the Women's Prison to the Police Hospital. Because she refused to be "transformed," she was forced to do hard labor and suffered from torture. Her body was swollen, and she was later diagnosed with uterine cancer.

Ms. Li Yuhua was also transferred from the No. 2 Ward and forced to have the IV injection. Her body was consequently swollen, and she almost died in the hospital. She was released on medical bail when her physical condition was critical. Ms. Yuhua passed away three days after she was released.

Liu Hui, another steadfast practitioner from Chengdu City, also refused to give up Falun Gong during her four-year imprisonment. She was barbarically force-fed numerous times, and locked in a small cell. She was stripped down to her underwear and bra, and had only one thin bed sheet to cover her body in the winter. Even after her term expired, she was held at the Xinjing Brainwashing Center in Chengdu City. The brainwashing center asked her work unit, the Education Bureau, to take her back, but they refused. She was thus detained at the brainwashing center for two additional years. One day she was struck in the face with a bowl, leaving a deep cut on her face.

Practitioner Ms. Li Xiaoyu was given a ten-year sentence. She was placed under strict monitoring for a long period of time, and was locked up in a small cell in the No. 3 Ward.
