(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in seven provinces. In this report, thirteen Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least six practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Nenjiang County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhang Xianying Beaten in Tailai Prison and Bedridden as a Result

Ms. Zhang Xianying, 59, lives in Qixingpao Farm, Nenjiang County. She has been detained in the third team of the No. 2 Ward, Tailai Prison, where she was beaten by inmate Feng Jun. As a result, she was bedridden. The prison authorities blocked the news.

2. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Wang Fengying and two other practitioners, all from Heishijiao Community, Dalian City, were arrested by police officers from the Heishijiao Police Station on the afternoon of February 16, 2010, while they were distributing Falun Gong fliers. They were taken to the Yaojia Detention Center that same night.

3. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Liu Hua Dies Due to Persecution

Ms. Liu Hua, 62, lived in Baoding City, Hebei Province. She began practicing Falun Gong in 1997, and benefited both mentally and physically. Her nephritises (inflammation of the kidney) and asthma also disappeared after she began the practice. After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched the persecution of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, local police officers and village cadres searched Ms. Liu's home and seized her Dafa books and other personal property. She was taken to a brainwashing center, fined, and prohibited from going outside. Her husband, immediate family, and relatives harassed and monitored her. Her husband beat her and destroyed her books whenever he saw her reading Dafa books. Due to the harassment from so many aspects, Ms. Liu could not lead a normal life. Her old diseases relapsed as a result. She passed away on the afternoon of December 1, 2009.

4. [Rizhao City, Shandong Province] 610 Office Extorts Large Sums of Money from Local Practitioners

Five practitioners from Rizhao City were recently arrested for distributing Falun Gong fliers. Among them, one practitioner had more than 200,000 yuan in cash extorted from them. Fifteen practitioners were subsequently arrested one after another. They are now detained in the Rizhao City Detention Center and subjected to mistreatment. The local police claimed that they would be released only after their families paid 200,000 yuan each.

5. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Zhixian Detained

On February 14, 2010, Ms. Wang Zhixian was reported to police while she was promoting Falun Gong and exposing the persecution. She is being detained at the Anshan City First Detention Center.

6. [Tianjin City] Ms. Lu Shuying Arrested

Ms. Lu Shuying lived in Hongqiao District, Tianjin City. She was arrested on February 16, 2010, and is now detained at the Beichen District Police Department. Ms. Lu was released from the Banqiao Women's Forced Labor Camp just three months ago.

8. [Liaocheng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Nie Yuxia Taken to a Local Brainwashing Center

Ms. Nie Yuxia from Liaocheng City was arrested on the night of February 11, 2010. Her bother tried very hard to find her. He finally went to the local brainwashing center to inquire as to her whereabouts. He did not know she was being detained until he asked at the brainwashing center.

Mr. Mai Dazhi, Mr. Li Yanting, Mr. Liu Hairong and Mr. Wang Yongxian were recently sentenced to forced labor.
