Audience in Sydney Appreciates the Message of Shen Yun (Photo)

May 20, 2010

(Clearwisdom.net) Sharing the finest elements of traditional Chinese culture through spectacular displays of classical dance and music, Shen Yun Performing Arts is currently showing at the Big Top Theatre, Luna Park. Tuesday evening's performance on May 18 saw viewers of all ages and backgrounds inspired and informed by the New York-based company's artistry.

Dylan, a business consultant, was attending the performance with his daughter. He said, "I thought it was a beautiful show. It was beautiful to see all the different kinds of cultural dress and the music was quite spectacular. Some of the dances were exciting for me and my daughter. And being able to explain them to her was really special."

Not overly familiar with Chinese culture, Dylan related his understanding: "Just things that I have picked up along the way, but this is lovely to have that full experience. I am very conscious of human rights in China, so I could understand how that would be an important aspect." This last comment touched on the ancient and contemporary mix of dances.

Paul and Rose Sampson

Paul and Rose Sampson, marketing consultants and business owners, were fascinated by the show. Mrs. Simpson said "[we] love it, think it's just wonderful." She was delighted by the "Mongolian Hospitality" dance, enthusing, "I loved it. It was just spectacular."

Talking about the overall experience, Mrs. Sampson described it as "very much a cultural experience." Mr. Sampson agreed: "It gives us a different perspective and a different insight into the Chinese culture and heritage so it enriches the Chinese heritage from our perspective."

Mrs. Simpson "enjoyed each dance for....the story that it told." She continued, "It's trying to show people about Chinese culture that is 5000 years old and the experience that brings."

Mr. Simpson observed, "I think it's more than that--the message of Falun Gong ... to me it's Falun Dafa saying, 'Please respect our heritage and please understand that we are being persecuted and this is our way of communicating to you the persecution that we're suffering.'"
