(Clearwisdom.net) NEWARK, New Jersey--Shen Yun Performing Arts played to highly appreciative audiences gracing the stage at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center for three exhilarating performances.

Yilber Vega, a reporter for Columbia Media, attended Shen Yun Performing Arts for the first time and was moved by its presentation of classical Chinese culture and traditions.

"It is definitely beautiful. I love it, yeah, very much," he enthused. "The thing that I liked the most is that you can learn a lot of things from the Chinese culture, there is a lot of things to learn. I will say that everything from ... thousands of years, there is a lot to learn."

He commented on the piece from contemporary China, Nothing Can Block the Divine Path. As a journalist, Mr. Vega became aware of the persecution of Falun Gong, the ancient spiritual practice persecuted in China, while covering stories at the United Nations.

"I heard about that before, you know ... I was covering one of the stories last time at the United Nations and this time, the way the performers ... the way they show what the situation is-it gives me an idea and it is so sad to see those things, that [it's] still going on in China. But it is good to learn."

Mr. Vega said the overall presentation of Shen Yun was "definitely" easy to follow, and he also took great pleasure in the Shen Yun Orchestra playing Western and Chinese musical composition.

"It is so gorgeous. ... You hear the music and you immediately [know] that's Chinese music because of the instruments, it is so natural.

"I think if I have the chance to see one of the shows again I will definitely come back," Mr. Vega concluded.

'I feel totally touched by the beauty of this display'

Also in the audience was a project manager who gave his name only as Ken. He was also seeing Shen Yun for the first time with his girlfriend.

"I enjoyed it very much, really, the whole thing ... very different areas within the Chinese culture, I found it very enjoyable. I have been to China a number of times so I found it interesting to see the different points in time-the history, the dance, the parts of the country. I found it very interesting."

Ken's friend, Regina, a psychologist, said, "I feel totally touched by the beauty of this display."

Regina appreciated the variety of the old mixed with the modern which gave her a deeper understanding of the Chinese culture, she said.

Also with Ken and Regina was Amelia, a student, who thought the Shen Yun show was spectacular. "It was very unique, very powerful and very evocative and ... the motions were expressed very vividly through the movement and the music-the combination in general gave a very strong effect. Sometimes you watch something and you are not quite sure what the message is, but each was very fluid and very meaningful."

Amelia said each presentation "had a different message" and conveyed "a different feeling."

Regina agreed, reiterating: "I loved very much the spiritual aspects of the whole thing. The messages by the music, and the message through the dance ... the [divine] beings coming and living among us and guiding us."

Architect: 'Very Inspirational'

Architect Liisa Pattanayak and her husband Dan, a meteorologist, had never seen Shen Yun before. Ms. Pattanayak found it "very inspirational ... very joyful!" She appreciated the dance of praise, Tibetan Dance of Praise, which depicts the joy of life in the snowy Himalayas in an energetic dance of harmony.

Mr. Pattanak enthused, "It's a wonderful show. Very very exciting. Yes very exciting ... It's so beautiful!"

Continuing about his impression of the show, Mr. Pattanak commented, "Very colorful, the composition, the choreography and the music. It's very nice."

Mr. Pattanayak comes from the Eastern part of India and said he enjoyed everything, mentioning "the last one, the Tibetan one, that was very good," he added it reminded him of home.

'It's like another world'

Diana Ramirez and Carlos Campis

Diana Ramirez, a personal banker with Bank of America, thought the show was "wonderful, just beautiful, amazing". Accompanied by Carlos Campis, a systems engineer, neither had seen Shen Yun before. This was their first experience of Chinese culture and Ms. Ramirez said she learned a lot.

She found the show "amazing" and Mr. Campis agreed. Touched by the dancers and the music, Ms Ramirez continued, "Everything was amazing, it was incredible. It's like another world. It is very nice, very nice."

Both Mr. Campis and Ms. Ramirez said they would like to come back for next year's show. Ms. Ramirez exclaimed, "Oh yes, hope so yes!"
