(Clearwisdom.net) In the two months leading up to special Chinese Communist Party meetings on October 1, 2009, police in Shiyan City, Hubei Province, launched a round of mass persecution of local Falun Gong practitioners. Some of the practitioners were made to pay huge fines while others were arrested. The practitioners affected were Chen Dingguo, Zheng Jinlan, Du Jiayun, Deng Xingying, Chen Xiaoling, Zhou Ping, Zhang Guorong, and Wang Lanfeng. Mr. Chen Dingguo was sentenced to six years' incarceration and is now in Shayang Prison.

Mr. Chen Dingguo, 65, is retired from Sanhuan Automobile Company. Agents from the Shiyan Police Department, the Wudanglu Police Station, and the Danjiangkou City Police Department ambushed and arrested him right outside his apartment building the night of August 22, 2009.

The police ransacked his home twice after arresting him and looted around 10,000 yuan worth of his personal property, including his computer, printer, motorcycle, paper cutter, and cash. The second raid on his home lasted from 6 p.m. until 2 a.m. the next morning. In addition, the police ordered his wife to report daily to the Wudanglu Police Station. They tried to make her tell them where her husband went before his arrest, attempting to fabricate evidence against him.

Mr. Chen Dingguo was detained in Shiyan for five days before being transferred to Danjiangkou City Detention Center, where the guards deprived him of sleep.
