(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 22 cities or counties in 14 provinces. In this report, 13 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 30 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Ding Zhenfang Becomes Emaciated in Liaoning Women's Prison
Ms. Ding Zhenfang, a practitioner from Dalian City, has been on a hunger strike in the No. 9 Ward of the Liaoning Women's Prison. Her life is in danger. Her family went to visit her at the prison for the second time on August 2. Only her husband was allowed to see her briefly upon the family's insistence. Ms. Ding was carried out on a stretcher. Her voice was weak. She has become emaciated. The prison authorities rejected her family's request for her release.

2. [Yingcheng City, Hubei Province] An Older Practitioner Held at No. 2 Detention Center
On the morning of August 2, 2010, an older practitioner was brutally taken into custody by officers from the Chengnan Police Station in Yingcheng City while posting self-adhesive signs. The practitioner is being held at the Yingcheng City No. 2 Detention Center.

3. [Urumqi City, Xinjiang Autonomous Region] 610 Office Sends Mr. Zhu Mingxi to Brainwashing Center
Agents from of the Shuimogou District 610 Office took Mr. Zhu Mingxi to the Nanshan Brainwashing Center on July 9, 2010. Before he was taken to the brainwashing center, Mr. Zhu was harassed, and his family was threatened. His grandson, who was cared for by Mr. Zhu, is only one year old.
4. [Tianjin] Supplemental Information on the Detention of Mr. Wei Yuwen
On the morning of July 30, 2010, Han Yong and Yu Xinhua from the Domestic Security Division in Tanggu District, Tianjin joined eight other officers from the Hangzhoudao Police Station in Tanggu District to break into Mr. Wei Yuwen's home. They took him to the police station. The officers confiscated a computer and a printer that belonged to Mr. Wei's son. They also confiscated Falun Dafa books and materials. That afternoon, Mr. Wei was transferred to the Zhaojiadi Detention Center in Tanggu District.

5. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Peng Taken into Custody
An elderly lady known as Ms. Peng went to the Etouwan Brainwashing Center at around 9:30 a.m. on July 19, 2010, to send forth righteous thoughts at close distance. She was taken into custody by two police officers. Ms. Peng lives on Jianyi Road in Jiaokou District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province.
6. [Laiyang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhang Baoren Arrested by the Police
Mr. Zhang Baoren is an employee of the Lanzi Cement Factory. He lives in Beihuang Village, Jiangtuan Town, Laiyang City. At around 11:00 a.m. on August 3, 2010, a large number of police officers broke into his home. They arrested him and confiscated Falun Dafa books and materials.
7. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Dong Yiran Faces Trial in Dadong District Court
Mr. Dong Yiran, around 50 years old, lives in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. He was unlawfully sentenced to forced labor in 2002 and then again in 2004. In February 2010, he was turned in to the police and arrested for telling others facts about the persecution at the gas station where he works. He is being held at the Dadong District Detention Center. He faces an unlawful trial at the Dadong District Court.

8. [Wuhan City, Hebei Province] Mr. Yang Guang Taken to Banqiao Provincial Brainwashing Center
Mr. Yang Guang was taken from his home to the Wuhan No. 1 Detention Center at around noon on July 19, 2010. He was to be released on August 2. However, officers from the Guanshan Police Station misled his family into believing that Mr. Yang was to return home on August 3 or August 4. His family learned on August 3 that Mr. Yang was taken to the Banqiao Provincial Brainwashing Center on the afternoon of August 2.

9. [Chongqing] Ms. Zhong Wenli Held at Police Department
Ms. Zhong Wenli, 64, lives in the Guankou area in Wanzhou District. At around 8:00 a.m. on August 3, Ms. Zhong was telling others about the persecution facts near the Wan'an Bridge, when officers from the Baiyan Police Station in Wanzhou District arrested her. Ms. Zhong is being held by the Wanzhou District Police for persecution.

11. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Lu Fenglan Taken to Weizigou Detention Center
On August 3, 2010, Ms. Lu Fenglan, 56, was telling middle school students the facts about Falun Gong near the Public Transportation Hospital. The police arrested her and forcibly took her to the Jianshe Street Police Station. The officers tore apart her clothes. Ms. Lu is being held at the Weizigou Detention Center.
The police found telephone numbers in her pockets. They called and reached her husband. The officers deceived her husband into opening the door. The officers rushed in, ransacked the home, and confiscated Falun Gong books. The police did not offer any legal paperwork.
12. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Gao Shiju Arrested in Mid-July
13. [Shenzhou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Song Guiling and Ms. Zhang Yunhui Harassed Daily after Returning Home from Police Custody
On July 14, 2010, officers from the Yuke Township Police Station and the Justice Agency went to the Dongjingming area. They arrested Ms. Song Guiling and Ms. Zhang Yunhui and searched their homes. After Ms. Song and Ms. Zhang returned home that night, the police forced them to report to the police station every day.
Gao Wei, a former practitioner who betrayed her belief, has been assigned to brainwash Ms. Song and Ms. Zhang. The police threatened that if the two practitioners still refuse to be "transformed," they will be taken to a brainwashing center and be forced to pay fines.

14. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Two Older Practitioners Taken into Custody
Ms. Tan, who is in her seventies, along with another woman in her eighties, were arrested around July 30, 2010, near Qianshan Road in the Ganjingzi area of Dalian City, while they were handing out brochures with Falun Gong content.
15. [Penglai City, Shandong Province] Mr. Li Yunhai, a Retired Teacher, Held at Jinan Prison
Two months ago, Mr. Li Yunhai was taken to the Jinan Prison for further persecution. He was unlawfully sentenced to five years in prison by the Penglai Court. No due process was followed. He was taken to a brainwashing center. As soon as the sentence was announced, he was rushed to the prison.
16. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Yao Chongxiu and Ms. Liu Lixin Taken to Nangou Detention Center in Fushun City
On the evening of August 1, 2010, Ms. Yao Chongxiu and Ms. Liu Lixin from Xinbin County, Fushun City were arrested in Wangqingmen Town by officers from the Wangqingmen Town Police Station. The following day the two practitioners were taken to the Nangou Detention Center in Fushun City.

17. [Meizhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Zhang Jiezhen Taken into Custody in Mei County
On July 26, 2010, Ms. Zhang Jiezhen was reported to the police while she was distributing Falun Gong materials in Nankou Town, Mei County. Officers from the Nankou Police Station arrested her and confiscated her moped and cellular phone. Officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Meijiang District 610 Office then searched her home. They confiscated a computer, a printer, a DVD burner, Falun Dafa books and materials, and paper currency bills with handwritten statements that raise public awareness of the persecution. Ms. Zhang is being held at the Qinhuang Detention Center in Meizhou City.

18. [Guan County, Shandong Province] Ms. Yu Zhifang Arrested
Ms. Yu Zhifang, 75, was arrested by several police officers from the Guan County Police Station at around 10:00 p.m. on August 4, 2010, while she was clarifying the truth to villagers in Guangerzhuang Village in Guancheng Town, Guan County.

20. [Guangdong Province] Mr. Xie Hanzhu Abused in Meizhou Prison
Around the Chinese New Year early 2009, Mr. Xie Hanzhu was viciously beaten by guards and inmates assigned to monitor him for refusing to sign the three statements renouncing Falun Gong. He had dark bruises in several places on his body as well as on his neck. To prevent his family from seeing the bruises, the prison guards forced him to wear a turtleneck while meeting with his family.
21. [Jiangyin City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Chen Meifen Forced to Stay Away from Her Home
Ms. Chen Meifen was turned in to the police for raising public awareness about the persecution of Falun Gong. Members of the Jiangyin City 610 Office and officers from the Luqiao Police Station broke into her home to arrest her, but Ms. Chen successfully avoided the arrest. She has been forced to stay away from her home. The 610 Office has sent out people to look for her and watch her home around the clock.
According to reports by Clearwisdom.net, Zhou Zhiying, a Jiangyin practitioner, was tortured to death after being taken to a brainwashing center by the Jiangyin City 610 Office.

22. [Luzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Li Quanying Arrested
At around 10:00 a.m. on August 4, 2010, three people from the Mianhuapo Town Police Station in Naxi District, Luzhou City, who did not identify themselves, arrived at the a computer game shop. They took Ms. Li Quanying away while she was at work. Ms. Li's niece, who owns the shop, which is located near the No. 29 Bus's stop in Lantian Town, was told by the three people that Ms. Li was to return soon. When her family went to the police station to look for her that afternoon, her whereabouts were unknown.
23. [Xinyang City, Henan Province] Ms. Liu Xia Sentenced to Four and a Half Years in Prison
Ms. Liu Xia, who lives in Shihe District, Xinyang City, was unlawfully sentenced to four and a half years in prison. In June 2010, she was taken to the Xinxiang Women's Prison.
Ms. Liu was just released from the same prison in August 2008. She was arrested again in November 2009. This is the second time she has been sent to the prison.

24. [Wenling City, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Lin Guilian and Three Other Practitioners Sent to Zhejiang Women's Prison
Ms. Lin Guilian, Ms. Jiang Huimin, Ms. Chen Junhua and Ms. Jin Li were unlawfully sentenced to prison. They were taken to the Zhejiang Women's Prison today. Despite Ms. Lin's serious illness, she was still taken to the prison.
25. [Zunyi City, Guizhou Province] Mr. Zhang Shougang Taken to Zhongba Forced Labor Camp
Police officers took Mr. Zhang Shougang from Zunyi City to a detention center on February 16, 2010. One month later, he was taken to the No. 5 Division of the Zhongba Forced Labor Camp in Guizhou Province, to serve a two-year term.
Mr. Zhang Shougang, 65, was held at the Duyun Prison in Guizhou Prison for five years. He was released in 2006 at the end of his five-year term. On the afternoon of February 16, 2010, he was arrested by the police while telling others about Falun Gong on Shanghai Road in Zunyi City. Mr. Zhang is in poor health due to his age and the mistreatment he suffered in the Duyun Prison.

26. [Chongqing] Ms. Tang Tianzhen Arrested
Ms. Tang Tianzhen, a Falun Gong practitioner from Chongqing, was arrested by the police on her way to Guang'an City to attend her mother's funeral. She is being held at the Guang'an District Detention Center in Guang'an City. On August 3, 2010, the Guang'an District Procuratorate issued an arrest warrant to escalate her persecution.
