Sept. 22, 2010 |   By a Clearwisdom correspondent from Heilongjiang Province

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Ping Guilan, 57, is a textile worker from the Acheng District, Harbin City. She has been subjected to police extortion, arrests and detention in brainwashing facilities many times only because she practices Falun Gong.

Ms. Ping started practicing Falun Gong in 1996. Her leg pain, arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) and heart problem disappeared in less than one month after she began practicing.

\Ms. Ping remained steadfast in her spiritual belief despite the persecution, which began in July 1999. She went to Beijing in September 2000 and unfolded a banner reading "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance are good." After she returned home from Beijing, officer Zhao Yazhong from the Heping Police Station often came to her home to harass her. One day, Zhao suddenly broke into Ms. Ping's home, took her away and held her at the Yagou Brainwashing Center for more than 20 days. Later on, she was transferred to the Acheng Driving School Brainwashing Center where she was held for more than 40 days. Ms. Ping's employers even dispatched twelve people to collaborate with the 610 Office agents in an attempt to reform her. The persecutors did not release Ms. Ping until they extorted more than 200 yuan from her family. After she returned home, her employers still sent people to follow and monitor her.

At the end of 2000, local 610 Office agents, collaborated with officers from the Heping Police Station and personnel from Ms. Ping's workplace, and held Ms. Ping at the No.2 Detention Center. She was forced to sit for a long time, and was often subjected beating from the guards. She returned home six months later.

In 2001, Ms. Ping's work place head deceived her into returning to her work place claiming that they were offering her a job, however, she was placed under arrest and was not allowed to return home at noon. One day, she returned home to prepare a meal for her elderly mother. Three officers from the Ashihe Police Station broke into her home and took her to the police station. They did not release her until someone from her work place went to pick her up.

In July 2002, Ms. Ping went to her mother-in-law's home in Wuhan City. One day, while she was reading Zhuan Falun to her mother-in-law, local police broke into and attempted to take both of them away. Ms. Ping's husband blocked the police to stop them and in the end the police left taking the couple's travel luggage and all their clothing.

In October 2008, Ms. Ping and her sister were arrested as they spoke with people about Falun Gong in Ping'an No.2 Group. The Ashihe Police Station officers forced them to pay 2,000 yuan before they would release them.
