(Clearwisdom.net) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in eight provinces. In this report, 23 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least six practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Yang Jiangwei Persecuted
Mr. Yang Jiangwei from Suizhong County, Huludao City, was arrested on February 25, 2008, and is now being held in Fifth Subdivision of the Fourth Ward in Panjin Prison. His wife went to the prison twice, on September 18 and October 28, 2010, wanting to visit him, but she was turned away. Mr. Yang Jiangwei and his wife were both persecuted less than one month after their wedding. It is now very difficult for them to even see each other.
Mr. Yang Jiangwei was employed at the Suizhong County Electricity Installation Company in Huludao City. He was unlawfully dismissed from his job by Liangjin Dayang Electricity Installation Company, the parent company of Suizhong County Electricity Installation Company.

2. [Jilin Province] Mr. Zhang Kejiang Held in Jilin Prison
Mr. Zhang Kejiang was arrested on July 13, 2007, by Lin Dejing and other officers from the Siping City State Security Bureau Criminal Police Team, the Public Security Bureau, and the Domestic Security Division. He was taken to Siping City Detention Center, where he held a huger strike for 70 days to resist the persecution. Five days after beginning his hunger strike, the head of Siping Detention Center force-fed Mr. Zhang. Mr. Zhang was suspended from an iron rail three times during interrogation in the detention center, each time for an entire day. Mr. Zhang was later prosecuted by the Siping City Tiexi Procuratorate.
Mr. Zhang was sentenced to eight years in prison by the Siping City Tiexi District People's Court on May 12, 2008. He was taken to Jilin Prison on July 26, 2008 and is now being held in the Sixth Ward.

4. [Jilin Province] Practitioners Persecuted in Siping Prison
Siping Prison formed its Eleventh Ward on December 29, 2010, and uses it solely to hold practitioners. They enclose practitioners in the Eleventh Ward and force them to undergo brainwashing. Fifteen practitioners are now being held in the Eleventh Ward, including Mr. Yu Donghui, Mr. Xu Peng, Mr. Meng Fankui, Mr. Li Manting, Mr. Song Jincai, Mr. Xu Hongjun, Mr. Liu Xiaoyong, and Mr. Wu Xinning. Each practitioner is watched and persecuted by three inmates.
5. [Gongzhuling, Jilin Province] Mr. Zhang Yuke and His Wife Persecuted
A dozen officers from Huaide Town Police Station in Gongzhuling City searched Mr. Zhang Yuke's home at about 7:00 a.m. on March 4, 2008. They took Falun Gong books, materials, a tape cassette recorder, a DVD player, a TV, a TV receiver, a bank book, and about 7,000 yuan in cash. They took Mr. Zhang and his wife, Ms. Yu Fengyun, to Huide Police Station and sent them to Gongzhuling Custody that same afternoon, for a period of 15 days.
Mr. Zhang and Ms. Yu were taken to Gongzhuling Detention Center on March 19. Upon arriving, Mr. Zhang was immediately made to wear heavy shackles that are normally used only on inmates serving a death sentence. Mr. Zhang was bound to an iron rail and forced to wear heavy chains on his hands for over 20 days, and both his hands were badly mutilated. To prevent Mr. Zhang from pulling out the tube inserted in his nose for force-feeding, inmates were ordered to take turns riding on Mr. Zhang's neck in 24-hour shifts. This lasted for more than ten days.
Mr. Zhang went on a hunger strike to resist the persecution, and guards consequently force-fed him. About 20 days after his hunger strike, Mr. Zhang was brutally beaten and passed out. Guards took him to a hospital, bound his arms and legs to the bed, and took turns watching him in 24-hour shifts. Out of fear that Mr. Zhang might die in the detention center, they quickly sentenced him and Ms. Yu to four years in prison and sent them to Jilin Prison on May 9, 2008. The prison authorities refused to accept Mr. Zhang due to his extremely poor condition. The Jilin City Law Execution Bureau and Forced Labor Bureau then mobilized enforcement procedures and forced Mr. Zhang and Ms. Yu into Jilin Prison on May 20, 2008. Mr. Zhang is now being held in the Sixth Ward.
6. [Beijing] Update on Ms. Shang Yonghong
Ms. Shang Yonghong from the Gulou Area in the Chaoyang District of Beijing is in her 60s and has not been heard from for over a year. She was twice sent to a forced labor camp between 2000 and 2007. After being released from the forced labor camp in 2007, she moved to Daxing.
7. [Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Fang Yujuan Under Home Surveillance
Ms. Fang Yujuan from Hangzhou was arrested and taken to Hangzhou Detention Center last month. She was taken to the detention center three times, and each time denied admission because her blood pressure was abnormal, ranging from 210 to 110/125. She was diagnosed with a cerebral blockage, her eyes were bleeding, and her heart was in poor condition. In the end, she was taken to the Hangzhou Detention Center. She is now lives at home but under surveillance.
8. [Tianjin] Mr. Zhang Ximing Secretly Sentenced
The court didn't re-convene to try Mr. Zhang Ximing from Tianjin after the session on June 10, 2010. He was instead sentenced secretly to three years in prison.
Mr. Zhang was secretly taken to the First Subdivision, Fifth Ward, of Gangbei Prison in the Dagang District of Tianjin in mid-December 2010.

Mr. Liu Xingwu from Shouguang was recently arrested when he was transporting copies of Zhuan Falun to Shouguang from out of town. He was sent to a forced labor camp in 2005, and his wife has divorced him. He rented a place and lives with his son, a student at Weifang Technology Institute. Mr. Liu is making a living by doing odd jobs.
Mr. Yan Jiwen from Wangfu Village, Jitai Town, Shouguang City, is about 60 years old. He was arrested by officers from the Shouguagn Public Security Bureau Domestic Security Division on January 4, 2011.

11. [Dezhou, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Wenyan Arrested
Ms. Zhang Wenyan, in her 50s, was taken by two plainclothes officers to Jianzigu Police Station in the Decheng District on the evening of December 17, 2010. She was then taken to Dezhou City Detention Center by Zhang Xikun and other officers from Decheng District Public Security Bureau Branch.
Upon learning of her situation, Ms. Zhang's relative went to Decheng District Public Security Bureau Branch to ask for her release. Ms. Zhang's relative handed over 3,000 yuan, but Ms. Zhang was not released and is still being held in the detention center.

12. [Rushan, Shandong Province] Ms. Ma Junyan Sentenced to Two Years of Forced Labor
Ms. Ma Junyan, a music teacher in Rushan City Jinling Middle School, was taken to Wangcun Forced Labor Camp in Shandong by agents from Rushan 610 Office and officers from the Domestic Security Division. It was recently learned that Ms. Ma has been sentenced to two years of forced labor.
13. [Meizhou, Guangdong Province] Updates on Ms. Lin Lanhua and Ms. Liu Tong
Ms. Lin Lanhua was arrested on November 11, 2010. She was taken to a forced labor camp on December 12. The forced labor camp refused to accept her and she was released on November 23.
Liu Tong was arrested on November 25, 2010. Her family received her arrest warrant on December 30.
14. [Chongqing] Ms. Che Huaijie Arrested
Ms. Che Huaijie from Chongqing was arrested on November 16, 2010. She was sentenced to a year of forced labor and is now being held in Chongqing Woman’s Forced Labor Camp.
15. [Duyun City, Guizhou Province] Mr. Liang Rongqi Tried in Court
Duyun City Court opened a secret session at 9:00 a.m. on October 28, 2010 to try Mr. Liang Rongqi from Duyun. He was arrested on May 27.
16. [Shuangcheng, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Hong Wu Persecuted
Mr. Hong Wu, 64, from Zhian Village, Tongxin Township, Shuangcheng City, was arrested on April 5, 2000, when he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. He was held at the Shuangcheng Government Beijing Office for three days. He was then taken to Shuangcheng Forced Labor Camp. Two months later, officers from Tongxin Township Police Station took him back and tried to brainwash him. He was monitored 24 hours in the police station and deprived of food. Mr. Hong was released two months later after having 5,000 yuan extorted from him by Luo Yan and other officers from the police station.
Mr. Hong Wu was taken to Shuangcheng on October 24, 2001, and held there for six months. He was tortured by cruel means, including being forced to stand or squat for long periods of time, to keep a flying posture, having showers with cold water, not allowed to use the toilet, etc. In the end, Mr. Hong was released after having 3,000 yuan extorted from him.
The director of the Township Police Station and other officers took Mr. Hong to Shuangcheng Detention Center on June 16, 2003. They took his groceries and a copy of Zhuan Falun. Because he refused to be "transformed," Mr. Hong was sentenced to three years of forced labor. He started a hunger strike to resist the persecution. A tube was inserted into his nose, through which they administered salty water, rice soup, cathartics, etc., into his stomach. His nose and throat swelled, and he later started to pass blood and pus. After 28 days, he was on his last breath. Because his condition was critical, the forced labor camp authorities let officers from the Tongxin Police Station take Mr. Hong home. The forced labor camp authorities extorted 400 yuan out of his family as “expenses for his food.” Tongxin Police Station director Wu Yonglin extorted 1,500 yuan from his family.
Mr. Hong was arrested at the Harbin Railway Station and taken to the Railway Detention Center in 2006 for carrying a copy of Zhuan Falun with him. Five days later, he was sent to Xilinzi Forced Labor Camp for a 26-month term, during which time he was cruelly tortured.
Officer Li Canhui, Na Xiangchen, and a villager who didn't know the facts about Falun Gong punched and kicked Mr. Hong Wu and shocked him with electric batons on March 31, 2009. They took him to Xiqin Township Police Station and held him there for half a day and a night. Police station director Hou Guangyi extorted 10,000 yuan from his family, then released him on bail.
17. [Gongzhuling, Jilin Province] Mr. Wang Yancai Persecuted
For reading a Falun Gong book on a bus, Mr. Wang Yancai was taken to Qingyuan Public Security Bureau on May 7, 2002, by the director and other three officers from Xiajiabao Police Station in Qingyuan County, Liaoning. They bound him to an iron chair, shocked him with electric batons, beat him with a board, and filled his stomach with alcohol, while blowing smoke at him. They tortured him for ten hours. After being held in Qingyuan County Detention Center for 15 days, he was sent to Fushun for three years of forced labor.
Mr. Wang Yancai was arrested by officers from Gongzhuling Domestic Security Division at about 7:00 p.m. on November 24, 2006. Mr. Ma Desheng, Mr. Sui Fuxue, Ms. Liu Chunyan, and Ms. Wang Lixia were arrested at the same time. In Dongsan Police Station, an officer violently punched Mr. Wang in the head, causing his mouth and nose to bleed. While they were escorting Mr. Wang to a police vehicle at noon, Mr. Wang's wife arrived. Mr. Wang wanted to speak a few words to her, but he was kicked and pushed into the vehicle. Mr. Wang's wife was also pushed to the ground. When Mr. Wang was brought into custody, he passed out and remained unconscious for three to four hours. He was sent to a detention center after 15 days. After being held in the detention center for 14 months, the Gongzhuling Court sentenced Mr. Wang to nine years in prison.
Mr. Wang was sent to Jilin Prison on January 17, 2008, and is now being held in the Sixth Ward.
18. [Nanjing, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Kong Qingmei Held in a Mental Hospital
Ms. Kong Qingmei from Nanjing was arrested in December 2010, because she refused to attend a brainwashing session. She was held secretly in Nanjing Mental Hospital. It is known that several other practitioners from Nanjing are being held and forced to attend a so-called "law and order study sessions."
Ms. Kong is about 50 years old. The frequent persecution she was subjected to caused mental suffering for her husband as well. As a result, her husband had a heart attack and passed away a few years ago.
