(Clearwisdom.net) After several practitioners in our region were illegally arrested, three of their families decided to hire an attorney. All of the practitioners in the area then had a discussion and concluded that we should rescue those who have been arrested and use the opportunity to clarify the truthabout Falun Gong and the persecution not only to the public, but also to those working in the legal system. We set up a schedule for practitioners to send forth righteous thoughts around the clock.
The first meeting with the attorney was unsuccessful because the CCP threatened him and he left without meeting his clients. We had a sharing and found our attachments to results and relying on the attorney, even though we knew that practitioners are the main actors in this event. Also, as time passed, some practitioners began to slack off in sending righteous thoughts. More than half of the practitioners thought, “Even if I don’t send forth righteous thoughts, others are still doing it so it’s OK for me to miss it.”
Practitioners changed their mindset after becoming clear on the Fa. Each person cooperated with the entire group and took responsibility for his or her part. When someone's attachment to results surfaced, others would remind him or her, “If we want to know the progress of the case, just look at how well we cooperate with each other.” Once a practitioner assigned to send righteous thoughts at 1:00 a.m. overslept. When she woke up, she thought, “We are working as one body. I just missed it. I can’t let the evil beings stay in my field.” She then sent righteous thoughts for an hour to make up for it.
When we heard that one of the practitioners would be tried two days before his trial date, we sent out a public notice and invite the public to hear the case. That way, they knew that Falun Gong was still being persecuted.
A day before the trial, a practitioner from another region reminded us to look over the attorney’s arguments. We initially thought that the attorney understood the facts about Falun Gong well and would plead “not guilty.” However, his arguments showed that he still didn't have a good understanding of Dafa. Early in the morning of the trial, several practitioners went to the attorney’s hotel. He told them that he was under a lot of pressure and that his law license would be suspended or he would be kicked out of the courtroom if he defended the case from the angle of freedom of belief. After practitioners discussed more with him, the attorney said that he would give it a try.
If the attorney couldn’t defend a “not guilty” plea, then his defense wouldn't be helpful to us in clarifying the truth to the public. When it was almost time for the trial, many practitioners stayed in close proximity to the court to send righteous thoughts. Those of us who had talked to the attorney earlier that day felt depressed. Looking within, from the attorney’s behavior, we realized our fear and attachment to protecting ourselves. We discussed with several other practitioners and decided to not share with the group about our talk with the attorney. We shouldn't worry about it, but concentrate on sending forth righteous thoughts. We were soon told that the trial was postponed.
In the following days, every practitioner looked within and found many attachments that included fear, selfishness, relying on the attorney, relying on practitioners in other regions, and the pursuit of results.
On the day of the rescheduled trial, some practitioners went directly to the courthouse, and some went to secure places for other practitioners to send righteous thoughts at a close distance to the court. We all sent righteous thoughts for an extensive time that day to eliminate the evil factors behind the people in the legal system.
The attorney understood the truth about Dafa and stated in his defense that there was nothing wrong with having spiritual beliefs. After the trial, the family of the arrested practitioner told us that they were very satisfied with the attorney’s defense. The attorney told us that, although the security was extremely tight, his defense was never interrupted. The arrested practitioner was able to make the “not guilty” plea himself. His family even heard a policeman say, “The attorney defended the case very well.”
Some residential committee managers sat through the trial. A practitioner’s neighbor told him, “My daughter-in-law said you did nothing wrong in practicing Falun Gong. You didn’t violate the law. It is the police that violate the law.”
Many practitioners felt that they had improved during the process of cooperating as a whole. Gradually, more and more practitioners stepped forward to clarify the truth as their human notions were eliminated. In the past, some were scared when they saw a police car or an officer, but now they can get up close to send righteous thoughts. Before, an elderly practitioner related to the arrested practitioner would shake with fear when he thought of going to the police department to ask for the release of his relative. Now he can go to the police department to talk about Falun Gong.
On the day of the trial, the attorney was asked to arrive early. When he got there, a court official showed him his cell phone, “Look, my phone almost blew up with all the calls from practitioners.” The official also showed him our “notice” to the public, saying, “[Practitioners] even sent it to my home. They invited everyone in the city to come and hear the case. We are under huge pressure. If we weren't pressured by our superiors, we wouldn’t have taken on this case.” When the attorney saw the judge, the judge said, “Falun Gong must be very good. Otherwise, why are so many scholars practicing it?”
Unfortunately, there were some areas we still needed to improve on. The judge still illegally sentenced the practitioner and sent him to a prison in another region. Although the court staff, including the judge, understood the truth about Dafa to a certain extent, they still participated in persecuting our fellow practitioners because they feared the CCP. We will closely monitor the persecution, expose it, and help our fellow practitioners come back to save more sentient beings.
