(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Shao Farong, a Falun Gong practitioner from Hubei Province, started practicing in June 1996. Ms. Shao has been illegally arrested and detained twice in ten years of persecution by the Chinese Communist Party. On August 27, 2007, she was again arrested and sentenced to three years in prison. After suffering prolonged physical and mental torture, she was released on August 28, 2010.

She was first detained from April 29 to May 29 in 2001. One day she traveled to a neighboring suburb to distribute leaflets on Falun Gong. She was followed by a plainclothes policeman named Liu Yan. Eight 610 Office agents, including Li Shenghui, Chen Shihua, and Wang Ping, arrested her, handcuffed her and took her to the police station. They shouted: “The crime of practicing Falun Gong is even bigger than murder and arson.” She was detained for a month.

Her second arrest and detainment was from July 17 to August 17 in 2002. One day she went to Jiangjiashan, Hanjiawan Village in Huangbao Town to distribute Falun Gong informational materials. She was seen by Qiao Shihai, the local security director, and arrested. One of the Chinese Communist Party members hit her about the head, making her bleed badly. She was handcuffed and sent to the local detention center. Chen Shihua, the 610 Office agent, collaborating with Xiong Kunrong and Yang Xianyuan, the local government officials in Huangbao Town, employed torture during the trial, and fined her 5,000 yuan. Again, she was detained for a month and then sent back home.

On August 27, 2007, Ms. Shao went to Sujiazhai to distribute truth-clarifying materials. She was noticed by Chen Chuanlu, and arrested by 610 Office staff members Chen Shihua and Sun Zhongpu. She was tortured in the Maliangjie Police Station, handcuffed and sent to the county detention center. She was sentenced to three years in prison in a closed trial without a defense lawyer.

On April 25, 2008, Ma Dafang sent Ms. Shao to the 7th Division of the No. 1 Ward in Wuhan Women's Prison. The prison division is actually a clothes factory, where inmates are forced to work more than sixteen hours a day, and there are twenty people kept in one prison cell. Ms. Shao was forced to copy articles full of lies about Falun Gong. When she protested against the harsh conditions, she suffered corporal punishment, including being forced to stand for extended periods of time. Although Ms. Shao does not know how to write, the guards still forced her to copy the articles by ordering prisoner Zhu Fanglin to beat her whenever she stopped writing.

On August 28, 2010, after enduring more than three years of suffering, Ms. Shao was finally released.

There are still three practitioners in Wuhan Women's Prison. Though they suffer inhumane treatment, they still believe in Falun Gong and Mr. Li Hongzhi. They are Ms. Zhang Lin, Ms. Yang Shufang, and Ms. Shen Yinxia. Ms. Zhang, in her sixties, is from Yicheng County, Hubei Province. She was sentenced to three years. Ms. Yang, in her fifties, is from Xishui County, Hubei Province, and was sentenced to eight years. Ms. Shen, in her sixties, is from Wuhan, Hubei Province, and was sentenced to four years.
