Ms. Zhao Yan's Sentence Extended in the Inner Mongolia Forced Labor Camp

Jan. 7, 2011 |   By a Clearwisdom correspondent from China

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Zhao Yan, in her 30s and from Beijing, was arrested by officers from the Beijing 610 Office in 2008, when she was reported to the authorities for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was first detained in Beijing and then sentenced to two years in Hohhot Women's Forced Labor Camp in Inner Mongolia, along with several other practitioners.

Ms. Zhao was tortured both physically and mentally because she did not cooperate with the guards at the labor camp. She refused to wear the prison uniform or do forced labor. She would not recite the camp rules, nor would she write a guarantee statement to give up practicing Falun Gong. As a result she was put in solitary confinement for a long period of time. When she shouted “Falun Dafa is good,” several guards put tape across her mouth to prevent her from speaking.

The labor camp authorities should have released Ms. Zhao on December 10, 2010, but they extended her sentence by four months because she did not give up her belief or follow the camp's rules. The authorities at the camp are not allowing her to call her family.

Those responsible for the persecution of Ms. Zhao Yan:

Sun Jinyan, head of the Hohhot Forced Labor Camp: 86-471-5692968

Guo Xiangzhi, deputy head of Hohhot Forced Labor Camp: 86-471-5693039, 86-471-5693112
