The Chinese Communist Party's Shocking Persecution of Talented People in Mainstream Society

Jan. 9, 2011 |   By Feipu

(Clearwisdom.net) When carrying out the persecution of Falun Gong, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) does not care about the social status of Falun Gong practitioners. Regardless of how many contributions a practitioner has made in society or how talented he might be, or what negative impact it will have nationally or internationally, the persecution is ruthlessly carried out to the fullest extent. In persecuting talented people from all walks of life in China's mainstream society, the CCP is quickly destroying a broad section of social elites who embody high moral standards, the destruction of which delivers a heavy blow to the entire society and Chinese civilization as a whole.

Ms. Zhu Ying, a National Model Worker, is Tortured to Death in a Detention Center

On December 27, 2010, Clearwisdom.net reported that Ms. Zhu Ying, a former representative who attended the National People's Congress, and a national model worker in Xinxiang City, Henan Province, was deceived into leaving her home and arrested by Wei Guanglei and other police officers from the Dongdajie Police Station on September 27, 2010. According to sources inside China, she was abused until her death in the Xinxiang City Detention Center at around 4:00 a.m. on November 30, less than five weeks after being taken into police custody. Her body was cremated on December 2, 2010. Ms. Zhu had begun practicing Falun Gong when she was fighting cancer, which was cured through her cultivation practice.

Loss of Zhang Jianping Would Cost Southern Cement Company Billions in Revenue

Around the same time, Clearwisdom.net reported the arrest of Mr. Zhang Jianping, deputy general manager of the Production and Technology Department at the Southern Cement Company in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province. Mr. Zhang was arrested on November 28, 2010 and taken to the Hangzhou Detention Center.

Mr. Zhang is director of the Mining Experts Committee of the Southern Cement Company, overseeing mining affairs. Li Shuhai, the company's executive vice president, appreciated Mr. Zhang's expertise and dedication. He commented that no substitute could be found, and the loss of Mr. Zhang would cost the company billions in revenue.

In the November issue of China Cement journal, a special report on the Southern Cement Company's pooling of mining resources described Mr. Zhang as rich in managerial expertise, with extensive hands-on experience, and as sharp, professional, and decisive. He was fully aware of the minute details of all aspects of the company's mining resources. In 2009, Mr. Zhang was awarded the “Outstanding Contribution Prize” in the cement mining field by the Chinese Cement Association.

While he was in detention, Mr. Zhang received a third prize for his research paper. He was scheduled to deliver a speech in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province on December 7, 2010 and planned to visit Japan for technical exchanges in January 2011.

Outspoken Attorney Wang Yonghang Sentenced to Seven Years in Prison

On December 18, 2010, Clearwisdom.net reported that several inmates took hints from prison guards in Ward 18 of Shenyang No. 1 Prison to viciously beat Mr. Wang Yonghang on the evening of October 11, 2010. Mr. Wang, a lawyer from Dalian City, had been sentenced to seven years in prison for speaking out on behalf of Falun Gong. Among the prison guards who instigated the beatings were Li Shiguang, Peng Li, and Liu Chang. The following morning, Mr. Wang was beaten again. He was then placed in solitary confinement in a small cell for further mental and physical torture.

Mr. Wang Yonghang, 37, was formerly an attorney at the Qianjun Law Office in Liaoning Province. In May 2008, he published an open letter addressed to top leaders Hu Jintao and Wen Jiabao, entitled “A Big Mistake of the Past Calls for Prompt Correction to Address Its Consequences.” He pointed out, from the legal perspective, the fatal flaw in applying Article 300 of the Criminal Law to Falun Gong practitioners on the grounds of “organiz[ing] and utiliz[ing] superstitious sects, secret societies, and evil religious organizations or sabotag[ing] the implementation of the state's laws and executive regulations by utilizing superstition.” He appealed to the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Supreme People's Court to pay the least respect to the law. He demanded the authorities correct the wrong decisions that have been carried out since 1999 and release all Falun Gong practitioners. His open letter has had a significant impact in the international community.

According to sources within the police system, this arrest was ordered by Zhou Yongkang, a member of the standing committee of the politburo and China's highest official in charge of political and judiciary affairs on behalf of the CCP.

Winner of the Science and Technology Advancement Prize from Ministry of Electric Power Taken to a Labor Camp for His Belief

On December 19, 2010, Clearwisdom.net reported that Mr. Zheng Xujun, a former PhD candidate from the China Electric Power Research Institute, was a winner of the Third Prize of the Ministry of Electric Power's Science and Technology Advancement Awards. Due to his outstanding academic and industry performance, he was given the opportunity to be a visiting scholar at Liverpool University in the United Kingdom in January 1999. After his return to China, he was held at the Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp between 2001 and 2003. In 2008, he was arrested along with his wife. He was sentenced to two and a half years of forced labor.

His wife, Ms. Su Nan, was a civilian official at a measurement station affiliated with the No. 2 Artillery and the General Armament Department of the People's Liberation Army. She endured inhuman torture for insisting on practicing Falun Gong. She was sentenced to three years in prison, during which period her bones were deformed all over her body. She is not able to either stretch out her fingers or hold them tight. Prior to the 2008 Beijing Olympics, she was again sentenced to two and a half years of forced labor and held at the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, which is notorious for its brutality. At the end of the illegal forced labor term, the labor camp guards extended the term by another 10 days.

What the CCP Destroys Are Elites in Mainstream Society

The above are just a few cases that were reported in recent days. Readers may have noticed that since the persecution began in 1999, facts like these have been reported on the Clearwisdom.net site on a daily basis. In other words, the CCP has destroyed the careers and families, and even taken the lives of countless talented people from all walks of life in China. Why would the CCP want to do this against the mainstream elites who contribute to the wealth, building and social stability of China today?

Fundamentally, the CCP has gone too far down the road of resorting to violence and deceit. It cannot tolerate anyone who disagrees with these destructive approaches and who holds onto the traditional values of human society. It has looked at the decency, honesty, and nobility of Falun Gong practitioners as a mirror that accentuates the deterioration of its now illegitimate grip on power. As a result, it does not care who these people are. The CCP's own history bespeaks of this ruthlessness. In 1958, when attacking intellectuals, it cracked down on all those who dared to voice dissenting views, regardless of their being college students with a promising future, or professors, physicians, or scholars who made significant contributions to society.

From the above cases we have seen outstanding talented people who brought tremendous revenues to businesses, upheld justice by speaking out for innocent people, excelled in science and research, or otherwise made significant contributions and became a representative to the People's National Congress. In any normal society, they would be great assets to the country and serve as the corner stone of social stability. Yet they have all endured ruthless abuse from the CCP only for their belief in Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance. Is the CCP attacking Falun Gong alone? No. It is destroying the entire nation by attacking its most outstanding sons and daughters. In so doing, the CCP has made itself the enemy of all Chinese who are bonded by the Chinese civilization.

The CCP's worst fear of losing its grip on power comes true when anyone starts to think independently and starts to tell what is right and what is wrong. Being mainstream elites, these Falun Gong practitioners' influences are far reaching, their life experiences convincing, and their arguments for universal values and the rule of law irrefutable. That is why the CCP has to resort to secret arrests and unannounced trials in an attempt to silence practitioners, the public, and the international community.

Another indication that the CCP is nearing its demise comes from the fact that orders to suppress harshly on these outstanding talented people came from the highest echelon of the regime, including the Ministry of Public Affairs, and even the member of the politburo's standing committee in charge of the entire political and judiciary system.

The simple truth is that there is a significant number of social elites in China who have chosen Falun Gong, despite pressure from such an iron-fisted regime. This not only attests to their wisdom, conscience, and courage, but it has also attested to the greatness of Falun Gong. The fear, hatred, and ruthlessness that the CCP has carried when suppressing China's most outstanding sons and daughters, has made it the enemy of the Chinese people and will only accelerate the Party's own demise.
