Ms. Liu Xiaohong Arrested in Sichuan Province, Her Father's Visitation Request Rejected

Oct. 12, 2011 |   By a Clearwisdom correspondent from Sichuan

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Xiaohong came from Macheng, Hubei Province to Chengdu City, Sichuan Province for work. She was arrested by Chengdu police in June 2011. Her father came all the way from the countryside in Macheng to Chengdu to visit her, but none of the officers he met showed their badges or identified themselves. Instead, they nearly confiscated his ID and detained him.

Xi'anlu Police Station officer Liao Hai, along with officers from the Domestic Security Division in the Jinniu District, arrested practitioners Ms. Xiu Li, Ms. Liu Xiaohong and Ms. Qiu Yan at around 9:45 p.m. on June 10, 2011. The police ransacked the house and confiscated their computers, Falun Gong books, cash, and bank deposit books.

Not long after Ms. Liu was arrested, officers from the Chengdu Jinniu District Police Station informed her father that Ms. Liu was being detained at the Chengdu Detention Center. Ms. Liu's father went to the detention center on August 16 to ask how his daughter was. The policeman on duty wouldn't tell him anything and only allowed him to leave her some clothes. Ms. Liu's father looked at the detention notice that he had received earlier, and realized that there wasn't any contact information on it. The names of the officers in charge of the case were not on it, nor was the issue date of the notice. Ms. Liu's father told the officer on duty, “My daughter has been detained here for more than two months. According to the law, a person cannot be detained longer than 37 days, and it has now been much longer than that.” He also told the officer that his daughter was a really good person, excelled at her job, and shouldn't be treated this way. In the end, Ms. Liu's father was told that his daughter had been arrested by officers from the Xi'anlu Police Station.

That day in the afternoon, Ms. Liu's father went to the Xi'anlu Police Station. He met two police officers there, but they would not tell him their names nor the names of the officers who were in charge of his daughter's case. In addition, the two officers also yelled at him, saying that he was interrupting their work. Ms. Liu's father told them that his daughter is a good person and shouldn't suffer such unfair treatment. The police officers finally told him that Ms. Liu was found to be explaining the facts about Falun Gong to people on the Internet, so she was monitored and then arrested. They also told Ms. Liu's father that if he wanted to know more details, he should ask officers from the Jinniu District Domestic Security Division.

Ms. Liu's father went to the Jinniu Police Station the next day, August 17, to ask for more information about his daughter. At the entrance, he made a phone call to the Domestic Security Division. As soon as the person who answered the phone learned that he was speaking with Ms. Liu's father, he immediately hung up without saying anything. When Ms. Liu's father called back again, the phone went unanswered. He then went to the nearby appeals office, where the staff member who received him told him that the Domestic Security Division officers wouldn't see him.

On the third day, Ms. Liu's father went again to the Jinniu District Police Station. This time, he asked the security guard at the entrance to call the Domestic Security Division for him. The phone was picked up, but they still refused to see him. Ms. Liu's father explained to the security guard how nice his daughter was. Security called the Domestic Security Division again and told them that Ms. Liu's father had been there two days in a row, and he asked if they could meet with him. The officers then said that someone would come out to meet with him.

A long time passed, but no one showed up. Then a police car arrived, and an officer stepped out. The security guard told Ms. Liu's father to get into the car and go with the police officer. They took him to the Yingmenkou Police Station. Without showing his badge, or giving his name, the police officer told Ms. Liu's father directly that the officers from the Domestic Security Division wouldn't see him.

That officer demanded his ID to check his identity. After he got the ID, he looked up some information on the computer and printed a report. The officer told people to watch Ms. Liu's father and then went upstairs. After a long time, the officer still hadn't returned. Ms. Liu's father later learned that this officer was the head of the police station.

Suddenly, Ms. Liu's father realized that he must leave immediately, otherwise he would also be arrested. He shouted out loudly, “Return my ID to me!” All the officers present were surprised but no one said anything. The head of the police station then showed up again and came downstairs. He returned the ID to Ms. Liu's father, but was still determined to detain the elderly man. He said, “How about we take you to the Xi'anlu Police Station to ask for more information?” Ms. Liu's father asked him, “If you won't even tell me your name, how can I trust you? Actually, I've already gone to the Xi'anlu Police Station. No one will answer my questions. No, I won't go with you and I'm leaving now.” He then quickly left.
