(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Shao Chengluo, a 58-year-old doctor of traditional Chinese medicine from Qingdao City, Shandong Province, China, has been practicing medicine for over 20 years. He is known to be an excellent doctor with a kind heart, well respected by local villagers and his patients. Unfortunately Dr. Shao was sentenced to seven years in prison for practicing Falun Gong after China began to suppress it in July 1999. He has been incarcerated in Shandong Provincial Prison since July 21, 2006, and has been subjected to over 150 types of torture there. By March 2011, Dr. Shao had become skin and bones as the result of the brutalities he has suffered at the hands of prison guards. His health has been deteriorating and he is dying. His family has not been granted their visitation rights for three years.

Dr. Shao Chengluo Suffered Over 100 Forms of Torture

Before he started practicing Falun Gong, Dr. Shao suffered from many illnesses that neither western nor Chinese medicine could cure, including cardiovascular, heart, severe cervical, and gallbladder diseases. Since he started practicing Falun Gong, all of his illnesses disappeared completely without any medical treatment. He enjoyed profound improvements in his physical and spiritual health and became steadfast in his faith in Falun Gong. However, his health was ruined in three years because of China’s persecution of Falun Gong.

The long litanies of torture inflicted upon Dr. Shao have manifested China’s police brutalities, including poking his body with sewing needles, brushing his rib cage repeatedly with a toothbrush or a wooden club, beating him up with a spiked club, a chair leg or a shoe, twisting his arms, putting pressure on his thighs, stepping on his stomach, brushing between his fingers with a toothbrush, breaking his ribs and breaking his arms. The prison guards would tie him up by his wrists and ankles behind his back until his torso formed an arch. They would then put him on top of an upside-down chair and knock over the chair which caused him to fall to the ground. They also pulled off his facial hair including his eyebrows. They broke his fingers, used a brush between his fingers, his rib cage or the wounds on his hip until the wounds festered. They injured his hip and then poured salt over the wounds, and they branded his legs with a hot iron. He was also subjected to brutal force-feeding, during which they knocked out two teeth with a screw driver.

Dr. Zhang Yunyi Died in an Attempt to Flee from Further Torture

Dr. Zhang Yunyi was a physician from Beijing Hospital of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine. The tragic story of Dr. Zhang is representative of what Falun Gong practitioners have experienced in China’s suppression of it during the past 12 years. A large number of medical doctors have been handicapped or killed because of the persecution. It is a severe loss for their patients and the Chinese society.

Dr. Zhang, a former attending physician from the Beijing Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Hospital, was a kindhearted and well-known doctor before he died at 33 while fleeing from further persecution. In the summer of 2000, Dr. Zhang was arrested without any legal procedures. He was sentenced to one year in the Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp where he was subjected to torture.

Dr. Dai Xianming Died as a Result of Torture

Dr. Dai Xianming was a traditional Chinese medical doctor from Huangmei County, Hubei Province. He used to suffer from a myriad of illnesses before he started practicing Falun Gong in 1996. Since China began to suppress Falun Gong in 1999, Dr. Dai had been arrested four times because he refused to renounce his faith. He once tried to flee home and went into hiding to avoid further persecution.

At the end of March 2002, officers from the Huangmei County Police Station and Jiujiang City Police Department, Jiangxi Province, arrested Dr. Dai and incarcerated him in the Lushan Police Sub-Bureau. Dr. Dai suffered from police brutalities, and he was not released on bail until he was dying. Dr. Dai was tortured to death on June 16, 2006.

Dr. Lin Gui in Taiwan Recommends Falun Gong in Her Speeches

Dr. Lin Gui is another Chinese medical doctor from Taiwan that often shares her experience of practicing at free Falun Gong workshops for schoolteachers. Dr. Lin Gui started to study Chinese medicine when her mother was diagnosed with cancer. After she was certified in Chinese medicine, she used acupuncture massage to treat her patients. One day Dr. Lin was fortunate to discover Falun Gong. As soon as she started practicing the exercises, she thought, “This is amazing! Falun Gong’s five exercises work on all the acupuncture points in the body!” She started telling her patients that it will take too long to massage acupuncture points and that they should go practice Falun Gong. Dr. Lin often shared her own miraculous experiences of practicing it and following the teachings to cultivate her xinxing. She recommends Falun Gong to everyone, and believes that one is most likely to become a better person by practicing it.

People in China and Taiwan are both Chinese descendants sharing the same culture, language and ethnicity, but Falun Gong is met with two completely different fates on the two sides of the Taiwan Strait. It is a strange phenomenon that demands public attention! Like all other Falun Gong practitioners, Chinese medical doctors in Taiwan who practice Falun Gong sincerely wish people in China will regain their freedom to practice as well.
