(Clearwisdom.net) Practitioner Mr. Wu Zhanwei is from Huangdao District, Qingdao City, Shandong Province. On October 10, 2011, his family learned that he had been illegally sentenced to a four-year prison term. According to Mr. Wu’s wife, he has been persecuted to the point where he has become extremely weak and muddleheaded.

Mr. Wu was arrested on June 11, 2011 by officers from the Changjianglu Police Station, Qingdao Economic Development District in Qingdao City, and taken to Huangdao District Detention Center. On October 10, 2011, Mr. Wu’s cousin received a phone call from an official saying that a Huangdao District Court judge illegally sentenced Mr. Wu to four years in prison and that family members needed to visit him at the detention center. Mr. Wu’s family was shocked to learn of his sentence since they have never received any notice of his hearing, a court summons, or the verdict.

Mr. Wu’s wife, his parents, daughter, and son went to visit him the next day on October 11. At that time, Mr. Wu was very thin and weak. He was also muddleheaded. His family almost didn't recognize him. A few months prior to his arrest, Mr. Wu was very strong and clearheaded.

He told them that prior to October 1, without informing his family, the Huangdao District Police Department, the political committee, and the detention center didn’t allow his family to visit him, and took him to Shandong Prison where the officials refused to accept him. They had to bring him back to Liuhuapo Detention Center. When Mr. Wu demanded to see his family, they didn’t allow it until October 11. From October 13-20, Mr. Wu’s wife went to the Huangdao District Police Department, the Procuratorate, the court, the Domestic Security Division, the political committee, and the 610 Office to demand her husband's release, but to no avail.
