(Clearwisdom.net) Practitioner Ms. He Yanhua, a Shanhuo Middle School teacher in Maogang District, Maoming, Guangdong Province, was arrested by 610 Office agents while lecturing on the afternoon of October 19, 2011, then taken to the Maoming Brainwashing Camp. Authorities have refused visitation rights for her family.
Yangjiao Town party committee member Feng Liang, along with officials from the Yangjiao Town government, Yangjiao Police Station, and the 610 Office, forced Ms. He into a vehicle, then took her to the Maoming Brainwashing Camp. Ms. He’s family was not made aware of her arrest. A few days later, Ms. He’s sister-in-law received a phone call informing her that Ms. He was not taking any food. The sister-in-law was asked to go to the camp to persuade her to eat.
Ms. He’s family went to the Maoming Brainwashing Camp on October 24, but was not allowed to see her. Her 80 year-old mother came to the camp a few days later, even though she had difficulty walking due to her age, but officials denied her visit because she wasn't able to walk up to her daughter's cell on the fourth floor. Ms. He's sister was the only one who saw her.
Because she practiced Falun Gong, Ms. He was subjected to brutal torture and other persecution during her imprisonment in the forced labor camp. Her salary was withheld so she visited related government offices and demanded reimbursement twice. She was then paid but at the reduced rate of a general employee.
Due to this semester's school requirements, the administrators scheduled her to teach senior-level chemistry and other classes. She was assigned the most lecture hours of any of the school's teachers, yet she was paid a reduced general worker’s salary, which is significantly lower than that of a teacher. Ms. He asked school officials to explain this lower rate. They replied that the 610 Office didn't allow them to classify her as a teacher.
To deal with this unfair treatment, Ms. He sent a letter of complaint to the provincial government. Unexpectedly, Li Zhejun, the district educational bureau director, replied with the 610 Office directive, “You must write a pledge, or guarantee statement, promising to abandon cultivation practice before the fifteenth of this month, or you will be taken to the provincial brainwashing camp.” Subsequently, He Yanhua was taken to the 610 Office brainwashing camp.
