Feb. 22, 2011 |   By a Clearwisdom correspondent in Guangdong Province, China

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Yang Hongjun and his wife, Wen Lan, from Foshan City, Guangzhou Province, were arrested while distributing truth clarification CDs on November 22, 2010. The arresting official was He Hongbin, an agent from the Daliang Police Station in the Shunde District of Foshan. Also participating in the arrest were officer Weng and other police officers from the criminal team and from the Domestic Security Team. Secret agents had tailed the two practitioners since August 2010, and had been to her place of employment and investigated her. The practitioners' family went from the Shunde Procuratorate to the police department, concerned about their loved ones, but were unable to see either Mr. Yang or Ms. Wen. Even a lawyer was unable to intervene. Yang Hongjun and Wen Lan are now illegally detained in the Shunde Detention Center. Their current circumstances are unknown.

Mr. Yang, 44, works for the post-doctoral department at Huanan Normal University in Guangzhou. Ms. Wen, 39, works for a foreign company in the Shunde District of Foshan.

Without showing a search warrant, authorities broke into Ms. Wen’s apartment in the Shunde District and confiscated two laptops, two copiers, two CD recorders, two cell phones, and an MP3 and MP4 player without providing a list of the things they removed.

The police confiscated a laptop, a copier, and a CD recorder from Mr. Yang's place of employment at the university. University security required that the police show a search warrant and provide a list of items they removed.

The Shunde Procuratorate issued a formal arrest warrant for Yang Hongjun and Wen Lan on December 22, 2010.

Once the family heard of the arrest, they went to the Daliang Police Station in the Shunde District to petition for the couple's release. Police officers He Hongbin and Weng told them, “It is impossible for the family to see them because the case has been submitted to the Procuratorate. You can hire a lawyer who can visit them. Otherwise, you can go to the Procuratorate.”

At the Procuratorate the family members were told that the case had been returned to the Shunde Police Department, that it was in an investigative stage. “You will have to hire a lawyer. The lawyer will be allowed to see them. You can also write a letter to them.”

The family then went to the Daliang Lubang Law Office and the Guangshun Law Office. The lawyers followed proper procedures and handed in applications to negotiate for their clients, which were all rejected.

The family asked the lawyers which department disapproved. The lawyers replied, “We can’t say. Figure it out yourself!” The lawyers returned their fees to the family, who had no idea where else to seek help. One lawyer said, “The Chinese Communist Party digs the hole. If I jump in, my entire life will be destroyed.” This statement made the family truly feel that there is no law or justice in China, which is ruled by the evil Communist Party.

The family is unable to contact Mr. Yang or Ms. Wen. They never heard back from the couple, even after they sent them a letter. Daliang Police Station agents notified the family to take back the couple’s cell phone, for them to continue to use.

Mr. Yang Hongjun and Ms. Wen Lan follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and are determined to become better people. The family sincerely asks for support from righteous and kind people at home and abroad for Yang Hongjun and Wen Lan.
