(Clearwisdom.net) Fa-study teaches us that all people need to be offered salvation. Since the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party was published in 2005, Dafa practitioners started helping people quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organizations. My wife and I went into the streets every day to tell people about the goodness of Falun Dafa. We also exposed the evil acts that the CCP has perpetrated against practitioners, as well as against ordinary people, in China. We have convinced more than 10,000 people to quit the CCP.
I am 75 years old, a retired high school teacher, and have practiced Falun Gong since 1996. I would like to share my cultivation experiences. Please point out anything incorrect.
After July 20, 1999, when the persecution began, other practitioners and I went to the provincial and municipal civil appeals offices to appeal for Falun Dafa. The provincial office was on high alert. Many policeman and police cars stood near the appeals office and arrested numerous people.
I understood that it is our responsibility to let people know the facts about Falun Dafa. My wife and I explained the facts to our relatives, and to people whom we met on the street. We went out each day and placed the Dafa informational materials at doors and posted flyers. With righteous thoughts and Master’s protection, we did not encounter any problems.
My wife and I were also responsible for Dafa materials allocation and distribution from several sources. For a time, four practitioners delivered Dafa materials to our house, which did not seem safe.
In early February 2002, our water heater leaked, which we should have seen as an indication from Master to tell us to pay attention to safety, but we did not recognize it. Police arrested and detained us for three days, but then we were released with Master’s great compassion and protection. Fa-study helped me see that fear is a kind of selfishness. In order to cultivate well, I had to get rid of fear and all other attachments.
Carrying Dafa materials one morning in 2010, my wife and I took a taxi to the market. We spoke with the taxi driver at the destination, explained the facts and asked him to quit the CCP. All of a sudden, an undercover policeman showed up and shouted loudly, “What are you doing? Come with me to the police station!” We did not panic. My wife sent forth righteous thoughts and I talked to him in a friendly manner, “Please, treat Dafa practitioners kindly. I really want you to have a better future.” He calmed down and said, “I will let you go, but leave all the materials with me.” As he spoke, he took a Dafa booklet and CD from the bag. “We have to keep those to offer more people salvation,” said my wife, “but you can have one and read it at home.” He became more relaxed and laughed. We ended up shaking hands before we went our separate ways.
Master said,
"If upon encountering trying circumstances your thinking can be truly righteous, then, when faced with the evil's persecution and when faced with interference, just one sentence of yours fortified with steadfast righteous thoughts can instantly make the evil disintegrate (applause), and it will make those who are being used by the evil turn and flee, it will make the evil's persecution of you dissolve, and it will make the evil's interfering with you disappear without a trace." I have been deeply influenced by the Party's culture, especially my competitive mentality. I have tried to eliminate this attachment since beginning the practice, but it still shows up from time to time. In recent years, there were several incidents where local practitioners did not do things according to Dafa. The local coordinator asked me to write a sharing article about it. But when I showed my first draft to my wife and the other practitioners, I got feedback stating that it showed my competitive mentality. The article was only acceptable after the third revision. I treated this as a cultivation process.
Another day in July 2010, we took a taxi somewhere. On the way we told the driver the facts and asked him to quit the CCP. But the driver was unhappy and interrupted me during the conversation. When I tried to convince him, he got angry and shouted obscenities at me. As a Dafa practitioner, I did not get angry, but was rather sympathetic, realizing how deeply the Party culture had poisoned his mind. I also thought this was a test to get rid of my competitive mentality, as I have practiced Dafa for more than ten years and should conduct myself according to a higher standard.
I usually do not fight or argue with ordinary people or other practitioners, but did occasionally get angry with my wife. We planned a trip in early February. My wife did not want to take a taxi, but I insisted. We argued more, and I got angry. My wife later agreed to take the taxi, but I refused. Soon after, my right knee became painful and had swelled up by the time we got home. The pain was getting worse, although I studied the Fa daily.
Two months later, I shared my experience with other practitioners. They thought the old forces were persecuting me. I looked inward and discovered my strong competitive attachment. Dafa practitioners have to do the right thing with the right mindset at all times.
Master taught us,
“When you're not coolheaded, I'll tell you, that's when demons are using you. I don't care how long you've cultivated for, and it doesn't matter what reputation you have among Dafa disciples, I can guarantee that's what's going on when you're not paying attention to these things.” (“Teaching the Fa at the 2002 Fa Conference in Boston”)
Master also said,
“You can have differences of opinion or feel upset all you want, but you still need to talk things out in a calm way. Don't our Dafa disciples have to not return blows or insults, even in the face of evil? Don't you have to forbear? To patiently clarify the truth? Then when you lose your temper, what was that for? What is there for a cultivator to get angry about? And shouldn't there be even less of that when you are with other cultivators? No matter who you are, you are cultivating. How come you always get mad at my disciples? Did I agree to your acting like that towards my disciples? ” (“Teaching the Fa at the 2004 International Fa Conference in New York”)
Ten years of being part of Master's Fa-rectification process taught me the importance of Fa-study. Whenever I was confused, I would study the Fa. We have Fa-study at my home and another group study in the local area. We studied and memorized the Fa and improved our xinxing, which is just like Master said in Teaching the Fa at the 2004 International Fa Conference in New York:
“In cultivation, the difference between humanness and godhood is just the difference of one thought. This difference of one thought sounds easy, but it can be achieved only with a deep and solid foundation in cultivation. ”
I will do as Master requires and study the Fa diligently, and walk the path from being human toward being divine.
