(Clearwisdom.net) It was on the afternoon of April 4, 2011 that I took my motorcycle to get gas. I was in a left-turn lane with the turn signal on. After making sure there were no cars in either direction, I made a left turn. Suddenly, a pickup showed up on the left and sideswiped me, throwing me to the ground with my motorcycle landing on top of me. When I realized what had happened, I found myself lying on the ground near the middle of the road. I was calm and not worried, because I knew that as a Dafa practitioner I was protected by Teacher. I also recalled that the thoughts that I had held at the time were important and that the outcome depended on my own state of mind. I saw that the pickup was parked tens of meters further down the road. As I stood up, I found that only the skin of my knees was scraped and that the left side of my buttocks was sore. I asked passersby to move my motorcycle to the roadside. At the time, the pickup began to backup slowly to where I was.
I told the people in the pickup that I was fine and that because my Master teaches me to be truthful, compassionate and tolerant I would not take advantage of the situation. I said, “I don't want any money from you. However, the motorcycle is damaged. Are you willing to pay for its repair?” The driver said,“My car is damaged too. Do you want to pay for its repair?” Indeed, the door of his car had a big dent and the paint was stripped. I asked him how he would settle the matter. At first he wanted to report the accident to the police, but later he changed his mind and handed me three hundred yuan, saying that if that was not enough he would add some more. I told him that because I practice Falun Dafa I would not take any extra money. However, I would need his help to take my bike to the shop, because it could not start on its own. He had fragile goods in his pickup and was not willing to help me move it. He tried to start my motorcycle several times without success. Finally, he let me use his cell phone to call my family to get help and reiterated that he would pay for my repair. I told him and his passengers that they were lucky to be dealing with a Dafa practitioner and that they should remember, “Falun Dafa is good. Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” They all said, “Yes.” The driver gave me his phone number and said that he had an urgent matter to take care of and left.
At this time, three people came over to look at my motorcycle. One of them said, “How did it happen? Will you settle privately? It will take two to three thousand yuan.” Based on my own experience and what I learned from Dafa principles, I told them that as a practitioner I had learned that we should be truthful, compassionate, and tolerant in dealing with people. While it's true the driver was driving too fast, he did not intentionally hit me. After they heard what I said, they did not say anything and left.
My family member had not arrived to help me. I tried again to start my motorcycle. Unexpectedly, it actually started. I understood that this incident was used to help me improve my character. As long as I follow Dafa principles, Teacher will provide a way out regardless of how things look. I was at peace riding my motorcycle to the repair shop. In my heart, I thanked Teacher for giving me the opportunity to improve my xinxing.
The owner of the repair shop called the fellow to come to pay for the repairs on my motorcycle. After he arrived he told me that when he was in the army, the persecution of Falun Gong had started. The political director asked him to take a position about Falun Gong. He refused to do so, because he did not know what Falun Gong was about. I said to him, “I think that because you refused to say anything negative about Falun Gong, today's accident was a minor accident. Teacher protected me and there are no hard feelings. Had you hit an ordinary man, he would be seriously hurt or even killed and all of the savings from your business throughout all of these years would take a big hit. You need to drive more slowly.” He agreed. I told him that he should recite “Falun Dafa is good” whenever he can, because it would bring him good fortune.
Teacher told us that after becoming practitioners, no incident would be accidental. Indeed, everything that happens relates to our cultivation. Whatever we owe, we must pay back. I think I have paid back the equivalent of a life today. Teacher did everything for me when I followed the Dafa principles. As a practitioner, we only need to keep a compassionate state of mind and follow Dafa principles. Then, everything else falls into place.
