(Clearwisdom.net) Beijing civil rights activist lawyer Jin Guanghong, who suddenly disappeared in early April, has been returned to his hometown in Hubei Province. He remains extremely weak and is not able to clearly recall what happened while he was missing. According to Mr. Jin's friend, Mr. Jin was working as a defense attorney in March for Li Tie, a citizen who was fighting for his civil rights. In early April, Mr. Jin intended to work on a Falun Gong practitioner's case in Luoyang City.
Mr. Jin was in extreme pain when he arrived back in his hometown on April 19. After being on a liquid diet for some days, he was able to eat some rice. He can also get out of bed now and move around a bit, but he is still very weak and the slightest movement exhausts him, requiring that he go back to bed.
Mr. Jin could not recall whether he was picked up on April 8 or 9. He could only vaguely remember that it seemed he suddenly fell into somebody's control while he was walking down the street. He was then held in a detention center and later taken to a mental hospital. In the hospital, he was beaten, and he vaguely remembers that he was tied up on a bed. He was given injections and given drugs. Because he never felt like eating, he was also force-fed through his nose. Mr. Jin could only vaguely recall these events.
Perhaps because he was extremely feeble, the authorities in charge gave notice to Xiamen University, which sent three teachers and his younger brother to Beijing to pick him up. Mr. Jin could not remember who from which department had controlled him while he was missing, and he could not recall the faces of those who were in contact with him.
Mr. Jin was born in Jianli, Hubei Province, in 1964. He studied in the Library Department and Philosophy Department in Wuhan University from 1984 to 1992, and completed a bachelor's degree in literature and a master's degree in philosophy. After graduating, he taught at Xiamen University. He passed the lawyer's qualification examinations in 1996 and began his law career the same year. He started defending Falun Gong practitioners in 2008.
Mr. Jin can clearly remember things that happened after he returned home and before he was missing, but he can't clearly remember what happened while he was missing. Civil rights lawyers and citizens who fight for their human rights in China have gone missing one after another since mid-February 2011. According to information from different sources, these people were usually tortured with inhuman means, and some were given drugs that made them forget things that happened while they were missing.
