(Clearwisdom.net) On May 5, 2011, Haizhu District Court of Guangzhou City put attorney Zhu Yubiao on trial. All of the gallery seats were taken by personnel from the local 610 Office. Attorney Zhu was arrested and prosecuted by the authorities based on the accusation that he was “preparing to commit a crime” because the authorities found staplers and printers at his home.
Local Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials had carefully planned the trial. The Zhongda Street Neighborhood Committee and 610 Office invited Attorney Zhu's mother to stop and have some tea with them on the trial day. They delayed her and she could not attend the trial.
On the morning of August 18, 2010, Attorney Zhu Yubiao was arrested by CCP authorities and taken to Xingang Street Police Station, where he was interrogated. In the evening, he was taken to the Haizhu Detention Center. Prior to the arrest and detention, the judiciary government division used the routine audit of attorney's licenses to demand that Attorney Zhu renounce his practice of Falun Gong in writing and promise not to defend Falun Gong practitioners' cases. The demand was rejected.
He has now been detained for several months. His family has hired two lawyers to defend him. The Lawyers Administration Agency of the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Justice interfered with the first lawyer's work. Out of concern for the lawyer's personal safety, Mr. Zhu's mother had to let the lawyer go. The second lawyer was illegally detained and denied any communication with Mr. Zhu's family. Only recently, at his family's strong and persistent request, the second lawyer was released and re-established communication with and restarted legal services for Mr. Zhu's family.
