(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Shigang, from the Longtan District of Jilin City, was recently released. While detained he was greatly harmed both physically and mentally. As a result he now has difficulty walking, his legs are numb, and he experiences dizziness. He lives a miserable life.
Over the past 12 years since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started the persecution, Mr. Li has been arrested and detained five times. He was tortured, which led to his disability. He was twice given forced labor terms. One for one and a half years, and another for two years.
Mr. Li's most recent arrest took place around 5:00 a.m. on April 28, 2011. Officers from the Longhua Police Station in the Longtan District made the arrest, and took him to the Jilin City Detention Center that same night. Detention center officials refused to admit Mr. Li because his health was so poor that he was almost unable to take care of himself. But officers from the Longhua Police Station repeatedly urged the center to accept Mr. Li. In the end, Mr. Li was sent to cell No. 10 in the detention center.
During his two-week detention, the guards allowed Mr. Li to stay in bed because he was extremely weak. Inmates had to bring him meals every day, and hold him while he used the restroom.
Mr. Li should have been released at the end of his term on May 13, but personnel from Jilin City and from the Longhua Police Station forcibly carried and lifted him into a police vehicle at noon that same day, and drove him to the Jiutai Forced Labor Camp. Mr. Li was previously in that labor camp in 2009. While there he had difficulty taking care of himself due to severe physical abuse and mistreatment. On top of that, he fell and sustained a lumbar fracture. The camp officials were afraid of being held responsible for the consequences and told his family to take him home. This time the camp officials refused to admit Mr. Li because they said he was disabled and had heart problems as well.
Officers from the Longhua Police Station , along with personnel from Jilin City who were in charge of Mr. Li's case, tried every way possible to try to have Mr. Li serve one and a half years of forced labor. But the labor camp officials didn't want to admit someone who was disabled. Mr. Li was then driven back to the Longhua Police Station that same evening. His family was contacted and allowed to take him home.
