One police officer repeatedly asked Mr. Wang questions. When he didn't answer, the officer inserted an electric baton into Mr. Wang's mouth and yelled, “Is your mouth or my electric baton harder?” The police also tried to trick him many times by saying, “As long as you write a guarantee statement to stop practicing and tell us the name of your contact person, we will let you go home and keep it a secret for you.” Mr. Wang replied, “Falun Gong is the Great Law and saves people. I have benefited greatly from it, my diseases have been cured, and I understand the value of life. I firmly believe in it, I have no contact person, and I learned it voluntarily.” After 11:00 p.m., Hou Shaowei told Mr. Wang to sign his name on the hearing record form. However, Mr. Wang couldn't write because his hands and arms had become numb after being tortured with electric batons for so long. Hou Shaowei then pointed towards Mr. Wang's right hand with an electric baton.

After midnight, Hou Shaowei and Zheng Xiaoli dragged Mr. Wang from the fourth floor of the police station, put him into a car, and Sun Yeming drove him back to Qingyuan Detention Center. The on-duty guards at the detention center were surprised to see Mr. Wang in such pitiful condition and asked Sun Yeming what had happened. At that time, Mr. Wang was in critical condition—he had a high fever, he was trembling, his teeth were chattering, he couldn't stand, and his clothes were wet with sweat and blood and were stuck to his skin. It was very difficult for others to take off his clothes, and some of his skin stuck to the clothes that were peeled off. The guards at the detention center arranged for 59-year-old Liu Xing to look after Mr. Wang by helping him use the restroom and turn him over, observe his condition, and immediately report to them if Mr. Wang's condition worsened. Mr. Wang had blisters and bruises all over, and he had difficulty breathing, making it impossible for him to lay on his back. He had to kneel down with his head facing the ground in order to exhale. His kneecaps broke after kneeling for a long time. In addition, it took a lot of effort for him to turn over, and he sweat profusely and coughed nonstop for over half an hour. The inmates all supported him in suing the police when they saw what terrible condition he was in and were willing to be his witnesses.

From the long-term tortures, Mr. Wang's hands and arms were numb for a year and a half before gradually returning back to normal. The flesh on his chest, back, arms, and under arms was covered with blisters and turned black. It was truly horrible to see. An attorney from Fushun saw the condition of his chest three months later and was very surprised at how horrible it still looked after such a long time had passed. Since the police also shocked his mouth many times, Mr. Wang's mouth bled, many of his teeth loosened, his tongue was numb, his lips were swollen, and he couldn't close his mouth. His pharynx, larynx, respiratory tract, vocal cords, and lungs were seriously damaged, causing him to be short of breath and not able to make a sound. It was difficult for him to swallow and he wasn't able to eat or drink for three straight days.

Mr. Wang requested that the detention center and Qingyuan Town Police Station release him on bail for medical treatment. The detention center manager, Qi Chengbin, said, “It's not possible for you to get bail for medical treatment; the impact is not good with the way you look (meaning the many bruises and blisters that covered Mr. Wang), and you didn't 'transform.'” Mr. Wang's condition didn't improve as he continued to have a high fever, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty sitting still, and chest pain. As a result, policemen Sun Yeming, Zheng Xiaoli and another officer from Qingyuan Town Police Station and Dr. Liu at the detention center covered Mr. Wang's head, handcuffed him, and took him to the county hospital emergency room for a check up after 2:00 p.m. on July 11, 2008. When Dr. Cao raised Mr. Wang's shirt, he was stunned at what he saw. Sun Yeming didn't allow the doctor to ask any questions or let Mr. Wang talk.

The electrocardiogram was conducted on the second floor, so Zheng Xiaoli and another police officer held onto Mr. Wang and made him walk up the stairs. Mr. Wang was sweating profusely and out of breath by the time he struggled to get to the second floor since he hadn't eaten anything for three days. The doctor doing the electrocardiogram was not there at the time, so they dragged him downstairs and waited in the car. When the doctor arrived after 3:00 p.m., Mr. Wang was too tired and couldn't walk. He asked for a stretcher to carry him up and he would pay for it. However, Sun Yeming refused to let him use the stretcher and dragged him upstairs instead. The doctor doing the electrocardiogram was also surprised when he saw Mr. Wang's condition. When he asked, “What happened to you?” Sun Yeming replied that he was “Falun Gong.” After the check up, Dr. Cao said, “It's quite serious. He should be hospitalized for treatment.” Sun Yeming disagreed and only allowed Mr. Wang to get oxygen therapy and an intravenous drip in the emergency room.

2. Persecuted in Fushun Forced Labor Camp

Zheng Xiaoli and three officers from Qingyuan Town Police Station took Mr. Wang to Fushun Forced Labor Camp on July 31, 2008. However, the administration section chief at the labor camp refused to accept Mr. Wang due to his poor health—his left leg was lame, he had pain around his back, he couldn't straighten up, he coughed up phlegm, and both of his hands were numb. The section chief told them to have Mr. Wang get a check up at Fushun No. 3 People's Hospital. The results showed a herniated disk causing pain in his left leg, infection of the lungs, and inflammation of the trachea causing coughing and phlegm. The section chief told Zheng Xiaoli, “If this person gets worse, you will have to take care of the medical expenses.” Mr. Wang was then detained in Brigade No. 9 of Fushun Forced Labor Camp, an intensive team for newcomers. They let Mr. Wang sleep and rest for three days because of his injuries and his inability to sit. On the fourth day, he was forced to do hard labor. Mr. Wang's arms and hands were still numb, so he told the supervising prisoner, “I can't work since my hands are numb.” The prisoner threatened, “Fine. After work, I will fix your injury with a gunnysack, a pick-ax, and an awl.” Other inmates stopped him. Since Mr. Wang didn't “transform,” he was denied family visits. As a result, his family had to go through a private channel to be able to visit him. Two guards sat next to him at the first visit.

From the intensive team, he was transferred to Brigade No. 7, where two prisoners closely monitored his every act. He had to report to them and be accompanied by one of them before using the restroom, and he wasn't allowed to talk about Falun Gong or other sensitive topics. One night Mr. Wang told the inmates about an ancient prediction on a stone that had "The Chinese Communist Party perishes" written on it and that no one can stop heaven's will in eliminating the CCP. Everyone in the room liked listening to him, but someone reported Mr. Wang to the brigade's political instructor the next day. Mr. Wang was called to the office and asked if he had spoken about Falun Gong in his cell. He said he didn't and told the story of the ancient stone with "the Chinese Communist Party perishes" written on it. This political instructor said, “I know you Falun Gong [practitioners] are good people, but you need be especially careful about your every word and action. I can't help you if it is reported to the labor camp officials.

After the 2008 Beijing Olympics ended, the manager of the labor camp, Xu Jie, tried to persuade Mr. Wang to write the three statements by saying, “I've heard that you are very strong and have endured great pain. A wise man would not fight when the odds are against him. If you write the three statements and with good behavior, I may reduce your term by half, so you can go home a year earlier. During the Olympics, overseas practitioners sometimes call me over ten times a day (that played a major role in restraining the police's evil conduct).”

3. Evil Conduct of Masanjia Forced Labor Camp Guards

On October 28, 2008, Fushun Forced Labor Camp sent over 20 guards to handcuff 17 Falun Gong practitioners and take them to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. They were detained at the No. 3 Brigade (a newly established brigade specifically used to torture practitioners) of Labor Camp 1. As soon as they got out of the car, dozens of guards with electric batons and regular batons surrounded the practitioners. When practitioners Zhao Liankai, Luo Chungui, and Liu Yu shouted, “Falun Dafa is good,” the guards brutally shocked their heads and faces with electric batons.

Practitioners were kept in the intensive team for over a month and forced to sit on a stool for more than ten hours every day, forced to memorize 30 rules and standards of the evil Party, and forced to watch videos that slandered Falun Gong. They used high-pressure violence and cruel means to try to force practitioners to “transform” and write the three statements, make an oath, slander Dafa, and write their name on the “oath wall.” If they didn't comply, they were forced to stand facing the wall for a long period of time and/or tortured with the “stretching bed,” the “big hang-up”, and electric batons along with other cruel methods.

Practitioners were also forced to do slave labor from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. every day, with no break and only half an hour for lunch. Most of the time, they had to work overtime. Once in 2009, guard Wang Yanmin wanted to speed up the production process in the tailoring workshop. He made practitioners, who were mostly old and weak, stand for over ten hours a day to work. As a result, everyone's legs became swollen and they felt dizzy.

Practitioner Li Hailong from Inner Mongolia suffered a mental collapse after being severely tortured. When he once asked Mr. Wang for several packs of instant noodles, someone reported it to the guards. As a result, Mr. Wang was forced to sit still on a stool for over a month. In addition, brigade chief Yu Jiang and others reprimanded Mr. Wang, “You are supporting the counter-'transformation,' [you're] against the government, you pretend to be nice to get sympathy, you play little tricks, and if you want to leave here alive, you'll have to pay a price and change your ways.” Once after dinner, when everyone went to the lavatory to wash up, Mr. Wang was slapped in the face twice only because he didn't greet the on-duty guard Li Gang in the corridor.

On December 29, 2009, Mr. Wang gave several apples and eggs to Liu Yu, a practitioner from Qingyuan County. The guards searched him and found the apples and eggs. Mr. Wang was reprimanded in the office and they threatened to extend his term.

Falun Gong practitioners are not allowed to speak loudly or close their eyes in the cell, they can't sit cross-legged in bed, and every action is closely monitored. This is especially the case when higher authorities come to inspect the forced labor camp or on sensitive dates. During these times, every practitioners' words and acts are strictly monitored and controlled, and the slightest deviance will mean torture for that practitioner. In the heat of summer, the guards often forced practitioners to walk in formation for several hours outside on the grounds, sing the CCP's songs, and shout the Party's slogans. The guards purposely prolong the torture with the excuse that practitioners were not in formation or they weren't loud enough when shouting slogans. By the time the torment stopped, the practitioners clothes' were soaked in sweat and they'd lost their voices from shouting.
