(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Kong Yingfei is a former policewoman from Anlu City, Hubei Province. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1998. In 2000, shortly after the Chinese Communist Party launched its nationwide persecution of Falun Gong, she was fired by her police bureau without being given an explanation.
In 2000, Ms. Kong went to Beijing to appeal to the government regarding Falun Gong, and was illegally arrested by local police and sent back to the Anlu Detention Center. When she was in the detention center, she was ordered to sign the “three statements” to renounce her belief, but she refused to do so. Later she was released, but was notified by the police bureau that she had been fired. No written document of her dismissal was provided.
Ms. Kong consulted with employment experts and found out that the firing process was illegal. As she was an official civil servant, she was protected by the law from wrongful dismissal. Any firing required approval from the Public Security Bureau of Hubei Province to issue a layoff notification.
After being fired, her family did not talk to Ms. Kong and tried to isolate her from others. Her mother began to beat and insult her every day, and would not allow her to eat. She went to her relatives for help, but they also pushed her away. As a result, she had to leave home.
In 2010, through studying the law and consulting with lawyers, Ms. Kong learned that she had not officially been laid off. She was still on the police list, and so she was still qualified to get her salary. Ms. Kong went to meet with the police bureau officials, but they denied that she was still an employee. She then told them that she would go to the Department of Public Security to confirm her employment status, but the officials later destroyed some of her records. They told her that while she was still in fact employed, she was not qualified to get a salary.
