(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Li Deyue was arrested in May 2006, and sentenced to two years in prison, where he was tortured. On March 23, 2010, one year after he was released, he was again arrested, and subsequently detained at the Fuzhou No. 2 Detention Center. In mid-November 2010, he was secretly put on trial by the Fuzhou Cangshan District Court, and sentenced to a one-year term. His family was not advised of his trial. He was released on March 22, 2011, when his term expired.
Even after Mr. Li's release, the Cangshan Xiaodu Police Station, which was controlled by the local 610 Office, continued persecuting him by blocking him from running his bookstore. He lost his livelihood.
1. Sentenced to Two and a Half Years, Subjected to Torture
In May 2006, Mr. Li Deyue was talking to people on a ferry in Pingtan County, Fujian Province, when he was arrested and sentenced to two years of imprisonment. He was jailed in the No. 3 Brigade at Minxi Prison.
In the prison, Mr. Li often talked to people about Falun Gong. As a result, he was handcuffed and shackled. In the summer, he was forced to wear a motorcycle helmet and was subjected to corporal punishment. In addition, he was sent to a Strict Management Team and Specialized Management Team to be brainwashed. Inmates who had been sentenced to death or life in prison were ordered by staff members Fu and Chen to watch him around the clock. He was not allowed to sleep or shower, and he was mentally and physically tortured. As a result of the severe beatings, he lost control of his bladder and bowels. In the summer, he was taken out on the cement pavement under the scorching sun to be beaten. This abuse continued for two weeks. In a cell with covered windows, the inmates forced him to watch a video that slandered Falun Dafa and to read books on Buddhism.
2. Sentenced to One Year of Imprisonment
In March 2010, Mr. Li was reported to the police while clarifying the truth to students. At approximately 4:00 p.m. on March 23, he was arrested at his bookstore by the police and taken to Changshan District Xiadu Police Station. On the following day, officers from the Xiadu Police Station and the city's public security bureau barged into his bookstore and ransacked it. The police confiscated some Dafa books and some personal belongings. They detained Mr. Li at the Fuzhou City No. 2 Detention Center the same day.
On April 7, 2010, Mr. Li was charged by the Cangshan District Procuratorate, and secretly put on trial in November 2010. He was sentenced to one year of imprisonment. On March 22, 2011, he was released when his term was up.
3. Livelihood Lost as a Result of Persecution
The local 610 Office threatened the landlord of the bookstore about renting to Mr. Li. As a result, the landlord refused to rent out the space to Mr. Li even though Mr. Li was willing to pay more.
