(Clearwisdom.net) Over the past ten years, Ms. Ma Yuxin from Fengcheng, Liaoning Province, has been arrested, detained, imprisoned, and sentenced to forced labor camp by the Chinese communist regime. Her last period of incarceration was divided between the Kuandian Detention Center and Liaoning Province Women's Prison, where she suffered five years of inhumane torture.
She started practicing Falun Gong in August 1998. The CCP started persecuting Falun Gong in July 1999. Ms. Ma had planned to go to Beijing on October 8, 1999, to speak out for Falun Gong. But on her way, she was arrested by the local police at Benxi City Railroad Station. At around 10 p.m. that night, deputy chief Zhang Zheng of Fengcheng Police Station drove her back to Fengcheng in a sedan. She was later detained for over 50 days in the Dengtiemei Road Police Station.
On February 27, 2000, Ms. Ma went to Beijing again and was arrested in Tiananmen Square, then taken to Tiananmen Police Station. The next day she was taken back to Fengcheng by officers from Dengtiemei Road Police Station and detained at the Fengcheng Detention Center. During her detention, policewoman Zhang Hua took her to an office where she was forced to squat on the ground for the whole afternoon without a break. On April 5, without due process and without the necessary documents, Ms. Ma was transferred to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp in Liaoning Province, where she was to be held for one year.
In the labor camp, practitioners were forced to undergo various forms of brainwashing and perform slave labor. One of the hand-made products that practitioners were forced to make was a flower in the shape of a cherry. The product itself smelled extremely bad and made people dizzy. Ms. Ma also developed dysentery diarrhea since the drinking water came from a well that had been contaminated by the sheep pen. The cornmeal pancake that was included in every meal served at the labor camp was always undercooked. Practitioners were forced to run and march in military-style drills. Her mother, who was in her 70s, was concerned about her wellbeing and went to the labor camp to visit every month, even though she suffered from severe illnesses. Out of concern that her daughter was being abused, the mother also bribed camp guards with three cases of Fengcheng Vintage Wine. Over only four months, Ms. Ma's family spent over four thousand yuan in bribes.
After Ms. Ma was released from the labor camp, Secretary Li of the Fengcheng Politics and Law Committee went to her home to harass her. Her work unit authorities harassed her at home, too. Her husband received harassing telephone calls whenever a holiday or sensitive date came up. Because of the harassment, her husband was constantly worried.
In March 2002, right before the National People's Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Ms. Ma was planning to go on a business trip to Shenyang Province. But she was arrested again, this time at the Fengcheng Railroad Station, and detained for 15 days.
On November 16, 2005, Ms. Ma was reported to the authorities while she was distributing Falun Gong materials in a rural village. She was arrested once again and detained at the Fengcheng Detention Center. She went on a hunger strike to protest, and as a result was force-fed via intravenously. Seven days later, right before she was transferred to another detention center, policeman Xu Zhiqiang stole over three hundred yuan from her. She didn't have a chance to bring her toiletries and slippers when four officers dragged her into a police vehicle. At the detention center, Doctor Wang encouraged others to force-feed her with a lot of salt, which ended up causing severe injury to her stomach and intestines. A few days later, she was transferred again to Kuandian Detention Center. Then she was sentenced to five years in prison.
During the two and a half years she spent at Kuandian Detention Center, Ms. Ma suffered from high blood pressure, caused primarily from the constant atmosphere of fear and oppression. On May 21, 2008, her blood pressure was over 200, which caused a lack of blood to her heart. She was then transferred to Liaoning Province Women's Prison.
While in detention at the 3rd subdivision of the 10th ward in Liaoning Province Women's Prison, she refused to give up practicing Falun Gong. Prison guard Zhang Yanru instigated lead inmate Liu Xiaoyan to torture Ms. Ma, forcing her to stand continuously for 48 hours without any sleep. Her blood pressure was as high as 190 during this time. Hoping to lessen the stress she was under, Ms. Ma's younger brother took Zhang Yanru a bribe of wine worth 500 yuan.
Ms. Ma's husband could not stand the pressure caused by her multiple arrests and detentions and divorced her. Her family, otherwise harmonious, broke up as a direct result of the persecution.
