(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Zhu Wenliang, 72, and her husband Mr. Guo Deshan, 70, from Wangdu County, Baoding City in Hebei Province are both retired teachers. They were illegally arrested, detained, and had money extorted from them by local police for practicing Falun Gong. The following is an account of the persecution they suffered, narrated by the couple.
Ms. Zhu Wenliang
Since the persecution of Falun Gong began, some local practitioners' homes have been ransacked and several practitioners were arrested and imprisoned. On July 13, 2001, the head of the local Domestic Security Division, Wang Zhenzhuang; deputy head of the local Domestic Security Division, Yang Zhijiang; deputy head of the local police department, Wang Jianlin, and a dozen other officials forced their way into my house and ransacked it, without showing a search warrant. They turned over boxes, emptied the cupboards, and confiscated all my Dafa books and truth clarification materials. My son held on tightly to the book Zhuan Falun, but several policemen pushed him down and snatched the book from him. The glass door was smashed during the scuffle, and fragments of glass were scattered all over the floor. My son was forcibly taken to the police station, but was allowed to leave the next day after my daughter-in-law went through a lot of trouble to secure his release.
The police kept coming to our house to harass us, and my husband was forced to leave home to avoid arrest. Wang Zhenzhuang, Cao Jinyue, Wang Jianlin, Zhu Junle, Yang Zhijiang, along with several police officers broke into my house several times and searched it. They also broke into my parent's home, my daughter's home, and my daughter-in-law's shop to harass them. They threatened my daughter and told her that they would get her wages stopped from her workplace and have her fired from her job, if she didn't tell them where her father was. They went to my son's workplace in Baoding and ordered his superiors to put pressure on him, so that he would provide them with information on his father's whereabouts. They then searched my younger sister's house and another relative's house.
On September 27, 2002, I was followed by plainclothes police when I took some clothes to my husband. They arrested him as soon as I stepped into my relative's home. They also arrested the owner of the house. She has not been seen since, and her whereabouts are unknown. The police took me to the county police department to be interrogated. Wang Zhenzhuang and Yang Zhijiang confiscated 1000 yuan in cash that I had on me, and both my husband and I were held in the detention center for two months. They also extorted 2500 yuan from our family members.
We were later sent to a brainwashing center organized by the local 610 Office, where we were forced to watch videos and read materials that slandered Falun Gong. I was tortured for more than 20 days, and was physically and mentally exhausted. My old illness relapsed and I was sent to the hospital for emergency treatment. The doctor said that I was in critical condition and had to remain in the hospital. I was released after they extorted 1000 yuan from my daughter.

I am a former teacher at Wangdu Secondary School.
Some practitioners in our local area wanted to appeal in Beijing after the Chinese Communist Party began suppressing Falun Gong. However, we were followed by the local military police. We were arrested and detained in a primary school, and monitored by the staff there. Three days later, we were taken back to our hometown, and I was publicly criticized and humiliated by those at my workplace every Wednesday for six months.
I was arrested on July 13, 2001 and September 27, 2002, which my wife spoke about, and was taken to Wangdu Police Department. I was interrogated, and officer Zhu Junle slapped me in the face. I was then taken to a detention center overnight. Wang Zhenzhuang, Yang Zhijiang and many other officers came to interrogate me every day while I was tied to a metal chair. They tried to get my son and daughter-in-law to persuade me to give up my belief. Liu Hexiang, who was the head of the police department at that time, often swore at me.
After being detained for seven months, my body became very weak. I could hardly stand up and had a huge lump on my neck, which grew rapidly. The head of the detention center was afraid that he would be held responsible if I died there, so I was allowed to return home after the officials at the police department had extorted money from my family.
Under orders from Shang Hongzhi, the head of Wangdu County 610 Office, I have not received my retirement pension for the past 27 months, which amounts to over 30,000 yuan.
