(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Yao Shaoyun is a Falun Gong practitioner from Xinyang City, Henan Province. She lived in the staff dormitory of the Xinyang Vocational and Technical College with her husband, Mr. Lu Weikuan, who taught English at the college and doesn’t practice Falun Gong.
Mr. Lu was called away by college officials at 3:00 p.m. on June 1, while he was teaching a class. Police officers from the Xinyang Domestic Security Division then forcibly took his cell phone and home key, and illegally arrested him. Li Weijiang, deputy head of the college’s security section, guided nine police officers from the Domestic Security Division and the Shihe District Police Department and subsequently broke into Mr. Lu’s dormitory at around 5:00 p.m. They searched the entire dormitory and confiscated Falun Dafa books, a computer, cash, and a bank book for an account containing over 60,000 yuan, as well as other personal belongings. The bank account contained what the couple had saved for years in order to buy a house. The dormitory was left ransacked.
When Ms. Yao learned about the incident, she was forced to leave her hometown due to saftey concerns. Her husband is currently detained in the Domestic Security Division. Due to the harsh treatment he has received, Mr. Lu is in critical condition, but the authorities nonetheless refuse to release him.
Mr. Lu has been recognized as one of the best teachers at the college and is well respected by his colleagues and students alike. Although he doesn’t practice Falun Gong, the authorities have still persecuted him because of his wife’s beliefs.
